i for 1 would enjoy this "uber favorites" mode you guys speak of.
it would make navigating through the games so much more simpler and efficient.

but i dont think new sub folders in the wbfs folder is the solution.

i was thinking a configuration file that saves the way you organized your games.

Actually, I was thinking something easier (even if I do not know how easy it is to be implemented...)

Starting the loader I would expect to see the cover of "LEGO Rock Band" game and a couple of folders named "speed" and "party".
If "LEGO Rock Band" game is selected and started, the game is loaded.
If "speed" folder is selected and started, no game is loaded but the content of the folder is shown, hence the covers of "Dirt2" and "Yamaha Supercross" are shown...
This is likely a lot harder to implement, which is why I suggest the other method. You definitely wouldn't get to see multiple covers on these subfolders, and making them display in a nice way in the GUI is tricky too. You also have issues with where games should be installed to and navigating to other directories that oggzee definitely will not want to code.

I see... it is known that what seems "easy" and "nice" then results to be almost impossible to be implemented...

Thanks again

cambric, clipper:
I believe a hierarchical filesystem is not a good way to organize data with multiple categories. For that you need TAGS or LABELS. A game can have multiple tags at the same time, for example Sport, Multiplayer, MyFavorite, ... so how do you store that in a hierarchical way? It doesn't make sense to me.
If I were to implement that I would use WiitDB for genre and attribute filtering and the existing settings.cfg for multiple favorites profiles. Similar as what xzxero suggested. Unfortunately because of the lack of time i don't know if we will see this soon.

Thanks Ogzee, this is a good solution for the same task... re the time, just take it in your ToDo list...

PS: the interest on this loader in Italy is growing fast...

This is unacceptable

but I agree with your analysis.
tag management would be much clearer.

the only drawback that I see, is that it mean you would (theoratically) need to implement both TAG management and MULTI FAVORITES to please everyone... mmmm.. I see the deadline running away... lol

any hints on the next improvement you are working on ? yeah I know it would be a spoiler.. but I am only human...

How about laying on the couch and playing the damn games?

I think the pace of development will slow down a bit for now.
Besides with Wii2 coming next year, this is all going to be obsolete pretty soon

Sorry for repeat posting but i think my question might of been missed....

I have got it all working fine run the backups and the usb loader from my HDD. Loading the program from the HBC.

However when i install the channel it cant find the boot.dol on the HDD even though the path is as specified?

Question: Is it possible to block de delete option in locked mode?Currently it is still possible that someone accidently presses minus (-) in the flow and grid view to delete a game.

Thankx

i agree as some games would appear in more than one list, so better basically to allow you to leave the games where they are and configure playlists sort of...

at the moment i only use usbloader gx and have posted on there asking for a similar thing, im reading about cfg because i need to install it for a friend using fat32.

Having a categories section would make either loader much better for many reasons. For instance my wife uses the wii for excersise and also for singing karaoke wtih friends. She hates scrolling down 150 games so it would be great (whichever way it is done) to have categories for each. At the moment (in GX anyway) i have to use the favourites option just for excercise games for her and she has to scroll for the karaoke which is hard after a few bottles...

you mean actually going past the first screen that appears when I click on a cover ?
nnnnaaaa...
you don't need to do that.

But with 50 Zillions of the original Wii sold - don't you think that Nintendo will support it for another few years?

Ok, i'm doing the same, but: Why no development because of the new console?

Look at the ps2 scene, just a few weeks ago the development of a new usb loader started there.

Depends on how popular the new console will be
And you can get the new one cheaper if you have a wii already

When a new console comes out you hear the first true details 1 and a half to 2 years before it comes out. We haven't heard anything official yet.

When you add WiitDB integration how are you going to display info? Here is one idea...

Yes that looks good, i had in mind something like that. But I don't promise anything, actually I will probably not be doing it. Maybe someone else might want to try adding that...
