[Completed Translation] Time Travelers

time_travelers_logo.png
After 8 years of research and translation, we can finally present you our final patch for the english fan translation of "Time Travelers" by Level5 on the 3DS.

We went through some years of stagnation and burnout. The team changed and got smaller. But we persevered, invested months over months in quality control, and now we're proud to release it!

The package you download is an app to apply the patch file to a .3ds or .cia version of the game. You're required to get your own decrypted dump of the game.
The app will create a Luma3DS LayeredFS-ready folder with all the necessary files in it. You just have to move that folder to the correct Luma3DS folder on your SD card.

Content

This patch contains the entire main story. However, there is post-game content which we did not include in this patch.
It was not our goal to translate the post-game content, and given how long this project already took, we decided to not pursue this further for now.

However, it's not impossible that the post-game content will be released at one point.

As for what you would miss out on: The post-game content is a kind of life-sim with the main heroine of "Time Travelers" to get to know her better and the world.

Documentation

If you're interested in creating a translation of this game for another language, we will document and give access to every tool we used/created and provide access to all our working files. Read up on everything here.

I've never heard of this game before, but regardless, a hearty Congratulations for finishing this! I can't imagine how monumental this project must have been, so your team sticking to it all this time and releasing it is something to be immensely proud of.

I've haven't heard from it before, but i know Level 5 ofc (thanks to being a Inazuma Eleven and Layton fan) Once i got a 3DS again, i will try this for sure!

Thanks for all the effort that was put into making this.
I was curious about this game for a long time, more so after I played 428 and liked it.

Are there any plans to port this to Vita still? I see both versions are still purchasable, would rather get the one for the Vita.

I've been following this project since the beginning, so happy it's finally here! A huge thank you to the team!

Now, time to dust off my 3DS...
Oooh, a Razor PFP. I approve. My PFP is my screenshot of Diluc when I got him in the closed beta as my first 5-star. A memorial, if you will. Razor is and always will be my favorite character. :)

Id love to try it but layered FS is slow as hell. God knows i have to wait 1min and 43sec for Puyo chronicles to boot with its translation
For my New 3DS it loaded as fast as the original and I didn't notice any framedrops that weren't in the original.

On future updates, can i just switch the patch files on Luma folder?
Yes, just switching out the files is enough to update.

great, i like fan translations more than official ones, because they're usually genuinely loyal to the original material, unlike official ones where they localize, change cultures, and add non sense stuff.
This was explicitly not our goal. We didn't take over honorifics, for example, so we didn't keep it 100% original, but the game is as is, with the same content, just understood by english people in some instances.

Due to the amounts of executable patches and lack of understanding of the hardware and modding scene for Vita, we don't plan a Vita release. But we release all our assets and working files, so other teams more knowledgable can try their hands at porting it over.

As you alreaddy offer a *.pat file and adequat patcher:
Would an xdelta be in the cards too ?

..
And I have this song stuck in my head again

xdelta patches the whole game file at once. Due to compression and shifting of every file in the single archive of the game, this would make the xdelta patch as large as the game, which would be ~1.8GB.

This is the very reason we created our own patcher, as it patches files way deeper and therefore more efficiently.
We therefore do not provide an xdelta patch, and probably won't be in the future.

In general, we think that for the generations of consoles after the NDS, xdelta is not helpful for distribution of patches due to that space efficiency issue.

For my New 3DS it loaded as fast as the original
If you patch the CIA it loads fast. But if you go the other route the system struggles reading the full 3.4K files.

@mister_smang_n_watch only happens with Luma Layered FS not when you patch the game itself Via CIA

Using LayeredFS on the installed game, the game runs as quickly as the original. No framedrops other than the original. The game also doesn't really read 3.4K files. It loads one giant cpk file. Loading that cpk file and our patched cpk file is a natively supported functionality of the cri library the game leverages.

So the major part of our patch doesn't even go through Luma's LayeredFS.

I didn't notice any real delays

That makes sense. ill give it a shot then since its just a few big files and not6 a few thousend in folders lol

How'd this make a pinned front page topic rather than a 3DS thread lmfao
I posted this in the 3DS sub forum and reported it myself asking if there could be an article on it on the front page for more exposure. The moderators then pinned it to the front page.
