When I was a kid we didn't have it, but I'm spoiled now.

Hot, specially on a humid summer day.
I want most of the water around me to evaporate quickly when I get out, otherwise the towel may get too wet and it can really be a PITA.

Ahh, a hoosier I see. Also, I have a basement and a fan. It's bliss in the heat

Only reason I turn the cold knob to the left is when someone else in the house drops the pressure and I need to avoid looking like a lobster, or when the pressure is so low having come through the hot cycle that I need the pressure to hose stuff off me.
I have taken completely cold showers, one time it was on a camp site when I woke up at 4am and did not know what the time was. It was not pleasant.
I take showers to get clean. Cooling off in the UK at least amounts to go stand in the shade for 5 minutes with a drink, which can be a hot one if you like such things.

During the beginning of the shower I turn the water warm so that I can easily step in and at the end of the shower I turn it to a cold temperature. (I prefer warm showers but I just do this so that it opens up my pores to clean out with the warm water and then I turn on the cold so that they tighten back up)

If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction -

You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive
