Does anybody know where to get replacemtn cogs/gears for the Wii dvd drive.

While I was trying to fix my drive, it was jamming, I have lost the cog which sits on the loading bar, its the first cog from the front of the drive.

So now I cannot insert and discs into the Wii.

If you don't know where to get them, could anybody tell me the size of the cog and how many teeth it has.

Thanks

well, I think the first cog is 14-16 pins and around 4-5 mm in diameter.

How much would you think I would get for this drive, It looks like its only the gear thats wrong with it, and I do know that the mainboard is perfect, and its a D2C chipset.

Might stick it up on ebay, help pay the cost of another drive.

Anyway thanks for your help all.

as far as i know, nobody sells the gears individually, there is not really any demand for them, so no point, more economical for the sellers to give u a whole new drive

skipp you could maybe sell it on to someone just looking the laser out of it or the pcb itself if its in working order

either way you will be at a loss on it

This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened:

As others mentioned nobody is going to sell you parts. It is however a realm that does exist in model making and plastics manufacture is not all that difficult, go have a word with a model shop (trains, rockets, Scalextric... sort of thing) and hopefully you will be pointed in the right direction.

This being said we now have for want of a better term cable chips like flatmii, drivekey and if/when it appears wiizii. Replacement drives are a captive market of sorts and nobody is going to give you a break there.

Failing that is the laser still works and you are up for it a toploading wii is something I would like to see.

Hi all,

I found a couple of online suppliers of gears and was wondering if anyone knew or could get me the dimensions of the first cog. I would need the diameter and how many teeth, just so I can email them to see if there have any in stock.

Thanks

Andy

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
