AFAIK, the Master System didn't fare well here. Idk if the SG-1000 or Mark 3 ever released in the US, but they didn't even do well in their native Japan, so I guess Genesis was supposed to be a "new beginning" for Sega and it actually worked well for them.Most everything then was a marketing reason. But Genesis? "A new beginning" ? After the master system, megadrive was th proper follow up in my opinion, but genesis? Sorry i'm gonna laugh now. At sega, not you.
