I thought it was
Boot2 -> BC -> MIOS ?
No

One more time then:
The first thing that happens is that the BC lowers the clockspeed of the wii to GC speed (162MHz). Then it launches boot2.
Boot2 will see the lower clockspeed and due that, it'll load the MIOS (instead of the system menu at normal clockspeed)
Then the MIOS disables all extra hardware and starts the game

MIOS doesn't really disable any hardware, it just doesn't support the wii hardware that the GC didn't have.
Then why do the Wiimotes shut down?
If the MIOS doesn't shut down anything, the wiimotes and Bluetooth module would still work, while they don't...

But if you can prove I'm wrong with that, I'll accept it

Edit: or do you mean that the things just shut down by themselves since they're not "supported" anymore? That has a point in it...

I like the menu and the auto load for non multi game disk. I only wish that this cmios was as good as wiigators gamecube backup luncher 0.2 at playing games like zelda collectors edition. Please someone ask waninkoko to give it another try with the support of the gamecube backup luncher 0.2 but with a better menu wear it dose not show the 0 game like in gamecube backup luncher 0.2 and pressing the video options reload like pressing the start button dose. Well thanks waninkoko for making this cmios for us as I have enjoyed testing it. And I wish to be seeing a new one soon.

Omg...

I tried and tried but I can't get my gc games to work...

Here's my problem:

I have installed the cios rev 5 plus the patch v4 and both worked ok.
The problem is that when I go to the GC launcher 0.2 all the DVD does is hang repeatedly, as if it were trying to load the game over and over failing each time.

I had the same problem when I used rev 3 and the mios patcher v4.

I used a sony DVD and a verbatim DVD and both give me the same result, the game doesn't even load like I said it just hangs, fails, repeats on my Wii. It's as if it was reading a disc that it cannot read. I dunno what else to do please help me out

try using neogamma rc1 instead.

It loaded all the games i tried and multigame discs as well where .2 launcher wouldnt work except for discs that only had one game burnt to the disc.

When the Wii calls BC it basically restarts the system (the sysmenu calls BC in much the same way that Boot1 gets called when the system starts). BC is essentially Boot1 but it sets the clock speed slower, and then calls boot2. Boot2 that calls MIOS, which never reinitialize the USB controlled devices, because it doesn't have a usb driver. It isn't that MIOS shuts down the non GC hardware, it is that it never re-enables them after the system "restarts" into GC mode. It would be fairly simple to enable the wii hardware in GC mode if MIOS was explicitly shutting it down, but it is that the hardware is shutdown when the system calls BC (and there is no way to avoid this, since by nature BC can't contain any IO drivers).

I did, I have rev 15 but regardless of that it still cannot even load the DVD right.
Like I said before, the disc makes this noise reading-->hangs-->fails-->retry

If this was true, why not hack a USB driver into MIOS, so it reinits them when it comes back up in GC mode. There's got to be more than just MIOS's lack of drivers for wii hardware.

Can't we skip the GC usb loading talk until somebody explains what shuts down usb access on GC gaming. I fear it's the hardware itself, which makes it impossible to access usb hardware if the CPU is running at gc speed.

the GC backup launcher compatibility list is kinda small ( http://dmanspokehackland.webs.com/GC_Backu...patibility.html ) .. for those who are using Wiigator's cMIOS v4 + GC launcher 0.2 (or maybe 0.1 Xi from Neogamma) - can you confirm whether the following titles work ?
- Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
- Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem
- Viewtiful Joe
- Viewtiful Joe 2
- Killer7

thanks

and I'm very happy for the new cMIOS, must not forget good ol' companion cube

I think the only way we will see GC USB loading without a chip is if someone ports Dolphin to Wii. Has anyone looked at the likelihood of this?

dolphin on wii will never happen

If you need a superb computer to get Dolphin emulated, you've got to be kidding me thinking you can emulate Dolphin on Wii
It's like emulate PS3 on GBA

I have never had a problem running any GC backup, except ikaruga & PSO 1& 2 (which still dont work with this new mios), even those few reported not working on the compatibility matrix (like baten kaidos, sphinx, golden eye, etc..) So i'm sticking with wiigator's.

NOTE: for those problem games reported as not working on the matrix, which I mentioned above, simply rebuild the images with fstfix , they work fine then. Its easy to do (I did post a tutorial on this some time last year, but not sure if it was stickied or what. A search will probably yield results for those that cant figure out fstfix on their own (search for fstfix on google to easily locate the tool).)

my 2 cents .. peace out ppl ..

Except you're not trying to run PPC code on an x86, and you're not having to emulate all the graphics hardware. You're running it on a platform that already supports it, more or less. Maybe emulation isn't even the right term here.

I've never used Dolphin, so I don't know what its hardware requirements are.

I'm currently thinking that for USB loading, maybe cMIOS isnt the answer...

However i think a best option might just be to modify gamecube games to look like wii games, or be modified in memory to look like one. Because if you look at the files in WiiScrubber, a lot of the same material is present in a Wii game that is in a GC game.

If we were to create a new IOS (use 224 or something) and have it open a Gamecube disc in a modified Wii mode, perhaps we could boot the disc from USB.
And if there were problems with things like CPU speed, this could potentially be modified.

I dont know... just food for thought...

has not happened, will never happen

this GC-USB thing is like the ghost of people wanting to run GBA roms in a Slot1 solution, give up already
DS Iplayer?

Will this play Poke Colloseum? I've tried all CMIOS' and none seem to work with it...
