Almost sure just the version number has changed, nothing relevant.
There is something changed, in IOS56 v5661 the module name is 00000008, in v5662 the module is renamed to 0000001a and the file is longer.
Oh, and in v5661 the name is 00000016, in v5662 the module is renamed to 00000019 and the content changed from firmware.64.1003120825 to firmware.64.1007260716, but I don't think this change is important.

Maybe Wanin though there is nothing relevant in 5662 too. It was out for a while when he released his v21.
Although it is not necessary, but would it be possible to build the v21d2x with that never ios, for testing purposes?

@bseos
HAWX2 runs on IOS56, this info is in the tmd inside the game partition.
And AFAIK it works with cios based on 56 too.

Ah.. that's what i actually meant to type

Think i got mixed up with Black Ops for a sec..

@FIX94
Thanks for the check.
However I believe nothing relevant has changed.
In fact the WiiShop Channel v20 included in fw 4.3 uses IOS56v5662, but I know for sure you can manually install the WiiShop Channel v20 on a fw 4.2 with the original IOS56v5661 and everything works.
Also all the following games requiring IOS56v5562 work without any problem with IOS56v5661

Donkey Kong Country Returns...SF8P01...56v5662.....4.3
Mario Sports Mix..............RMKP01...56v5662.....4.3
Metroid Prime: Other M........R3OP01...56v5662.....4.3
Super Mario All-Stars.........SVMP01...56v5662.....4.3

Nintendo have to ensure backward compatibility between different versions of the same ios.
So I'm confident forward compatibility is preserved too.

@TheRealVisitor
There's no need to do it since everything works with v5661.

IIRC, the last IOS update was a part of the 4.3B update in September 2010. All the IOSs were updated by 1 (ie. v5661 becomes v5662, etc.). And I'm pretty sure the only purpose this served was to fully block the trucha bug restorer (TBR). In fact, it was either the 4.3 or the 4.3B update when ninty began installing IOS4X IOSs on non-korean wii's in order to prevent ppl from installing an older vulnerable Korean IOS and utilizing the trucha bug restorer that way. In the end, ninty's efforts were a waste of time because the scene had already moved on to using the latest HBC to launch apps with direct hardware access like the IOS236 Installer (which allows ppl to install a bugged IOS similar to what the TBR did). So the trucha bug restorer may have been blocked, but nobody cares.

So using the latest 4.3B updated IOSs are not going to make things any better. And ModMii would not be able to recreate wanin's patches since it would be an entirely different base IOS. (Note: wanin's patches and custom modules are 2 different things, we can replace the custom modules without issue, but changing the patches is something else entirely)

edit: or I'm mistaken and u should listen to what tueidj says below

Nice work on the Wanin cIOS fix for the controller lag. However, when I installed them, now in WiiFlow (2.2 r304) my system freezes when I scroll through my games. This never happened with prior Wanin cIOS'.

I can verify that...Happening to me as well. Also has high pitched squeal too.

Mmmm.. strange. wiiflow still does not support the cios rev 21 of waninkoko. It was a wiiflow problem. 2.2 304 is still a beta.

hm, i cant say ive done a lot of scrolling in wiiflow prior, since you just select game and play, but it took quite a LOT of intense scrolling to get wiiflow to freeze. And after a lot more scrolling i couldn't get another freeze, so doesn't seem like an issue for me personally. I have all my bought games on (around 40) so maybe it is worse with more games on hdd?

Guys, before you go searching, this is a Wiiflow problem. I don't know if it is a wiiflow problem only though.

I tested a lot of revs, and a lot of wanins cioses. On higher revs than 304 the wiiflow dev team has implemented and changed code to make wiiflow more stable.

I can tell you that they already partially succeeded with that and are still busy with improvements..
The rev. i use atm. seems to me the most stable rev. they ever made.

So my advise is to wait for the new public release and then see if the freezes still occur.

do any USB loaders support ciosx rev 21, with base 58?
rev21 Base 58 works with configurable usb loader. It must be installed as 249 (ie, you cant install as 248 and boot game from diff ios)
The controller lag is gone.

However has same compatibility issues with ashes cricket and my guess MHT, usb instr. aswell.
It is also alot slower than b57 and b56. (even in the loader the covers take time to buffer)

For people with controller lag issues
I would still recommend r19 b57 for majority of games and rev4 37 + 38 or rev 5.1 b37 for others.

This was with my setup so if someone else wants to test it out and confirm my findings that would be appreciated
i wan test rev21 Base 58
pls

@ jservs7 & DEFIANT
Please can you check if the same happens with the official rev21?
The official release works great for me.

Hell, I don't even have the hard drive problem that's been described in this thread.

I'd just thought I'd give this fix a whirl.

That's when I noticed It doesn't work with Wiiflow and decided to chime in.

hong0098, this is an old post.
Rev21d2x has definitely fixed the lag issue.
About usb devices in port 1 there's still an issue but I believe I've fixed it too.
In fact it works on my wii, I'm just waiting feedback from my beta testers.
If everything works as expected tomorrow I'll release the new d2x v2 in a new topic.
So keep your eyes peeled!

So far your D2x release works well. I haven't noticed much difference but there is less stuttering in games.
