Okay, problem.
NMH2 on disc refuses to load anymore. Used the official Wii cleaning kit, but still does the same thing. I put the disc in, and it does a ton of 'seeking', but then just goes to a black screen with the prompt "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting."
Well, what am I supposed to do now?
ohhh...
That doesn't sound good...
Try several games.
Try using some of your burnt game discs that are getting a bit old.
Try playing Dual layer games (Super Smash Bros. Brawl & Metroid Prime Trilogy).
If your laser is having trouble on lots of discs, and is gradually getting worse, then your laser may be nearing the end of it's life...
Oh god, I hope not. For one, this thing is obviously way past any Nintendo Warranty, or even the Gamestop replacement plan I bought for it back then. Not to mention with the word being that the DVD-ROM drives in new Wiis not even being able to read any burned games, severely limits my ability to use one. I know some here would just suggest getting an external hard drive for the purpose, but I don't have the luxury of spare hard drives lying around to be able to do that kind of thing with.
In any case, just as a bit of sharing for what I've done so far:
- Restored using BootMii to a NAND backup I had of before I even installed cIOSCorp 3.6 in the first place. This also meant that I lost all the Hermes cIOS's, and was back to an older version of cIOS38.
- Ran cIOSCorp Uninstaller to get rid of older cIOSCorp I had installed.
- installed cIOS38 rev17
- installed cIOSCorp 3.6
- installed WiiGator's mIOS, and rev14 DIP in the Extras
- uninstall prior versions of NeoGamma loader, and install 8(RC1)
- Installed cIOS 222 with IOS38 base
- Installed cIOS 223 with IOS37 base
- Installed cIOS 224 with IOS57 base
- Installed cIOS 202 with IOS60 base (didn't know if I could have 224 and 202 with the same base; went with my gut and 'played it safe')
Burned discs I've been doing so far with my stack of Sony DVD+R's, burned using IMGburn at the slowest speed possible (select 1x; usually goes up to ~8x anyway). Book Type set to DVD-ROM (when I remember it).
Real (Genuine copy) Wii Games I have tested so far show up immediately, as always.
Burned Games thus far (tested by going to Disc channel, and sticking the disc in then):
Excite Bots (very first game I'd burned) - long seeking time, but eventually shows up on Disc Channel
Super Mario Galaxy - lots of loud clicking, and black screen.
Call of Duty: W@W - black screen
Metroid Prime 3 (no, not MP Trilogy) - black screen
Punch Out! Wii - Loads almost as quietly as any of my real game copies do. No problem showing up on Disc Channel
Boom Blox Bash Party - strangely, loads up fine; shows up on disc channel
Virtua Tennis 2009 - Takes a while to load, but shows up on Disc Channel
Ghostbusters - shows up fairly easily on Disc channel, but again won't pass the "pull on and tighten wrist strap" screen.
The Conduit - fairly loud seeking, but loads up correctly on the Disc Channel.
Freekstyle (GC) - no problem
Wii Play (got it for the lulz... what a crap disc it is
) - yea, it shows up faster than any of the others as of this writing.
Disaster: Day of Crisis - lots of seeking, and black screen
Muramasa: The Demon Blade - louder than usual seeking, but shows up on disc channel
House of the Dead: Overkill - very noisy seeking, and what sounds like the lens hitting the disc or something... and black screen.
Super Paper Mario - Shows up on the DC
Killer 7 (disc 1) - see HotD
![ohmy :O :O](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
K
Killer 7 (disc 2) - seeks normally, but black screens
Dead Space Extraction - loads up alright; shows up on DC
CoD4 Reflex - Shows up no problem on DC
RE: Darkside Chronicles - 'impact' sounds periodically, and black screen
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - noisy seeks, a couple of 'impact' sounds, and... black screen?! but I was just playing this game before I started testing all these discs!
No More Heroes 2 - Lots of Loud seeking, and black screen
Just Dance - for the first time, the Wii actually gives me a "unable to read disc" error from the Disc Channel, instead of just black screening on me. Huh...
NSMB Wii - 'impact sound' a few times, and black screen.
To satisfy curiosity, I loaded up NeoGamma RC1; it reports using IOS249 rev 17.

Load up my same disc of NMH2; loud seeking, again... and it times out, twice.
Any ideas?
