Surely this has got to be better than the previous revs ? Is there any reason for me not to upgrade to it if I use USB loaders ? I read all this stuff about protection or whatever but I really dont understand it!

Yeah, I'd upgrade. I upgraded from rev15 yesterday. It basically does what rev15 does (which mainly was fix NSMB Wii for disc loaders) without breaking NeoGamma, and I think it has a work around for BCA games.

nah man, rev 16 breaks neogamma COMPLETELY (worse than rev15) and introduces dual layer bug again (apparantly) rev 15 is best for most loaders and rev 14 best for neogamma.

But if your using USB loader then you wouldnt care about neogamma ? So the other features must be better ? Or the same ? If not why has this been released!!!

Well its rev15 without bca code, or rev16 without dual layer support. unfortunately it also broke compatibility with my HDD...

Rev14 breaks Metroid Prime Triology and SSBB completely.
Rev15 breaks Sam & Max and FarCry completely
Rev16 breaks Metroid Prime Triology and SSBB completely AND the use of NeoGamma.

In return you get BCA stuff in rev16, but there's only New Super Mario Bros with it now, and there's a patch around that makes it playable with rev14 and rev15. When other games with BCA protection are released, we may talk about this again.

My NSMB works fine, but my friend's doesn't work, no matter what, including Neogamma R8 latest, alt-dol, patched ISO, both rev14 and 15. What if we used ShowMiiWads with a NAND dump of a Wii with rev16 and packed a cIOS rev16 wad and patched it to use IOS222, and used uLoader? Then we would have both cIOS rev14 and 16, both to be used accordingly.

Will Avatar work on USB Loaders with rev16?

As far as i know the problems with the game were related to a broken release and everything works fine with a proper backup.

Didn't know that. Thx for the info. So will a clean NSMBWii work on USB Loaders with rev16? I'm just trying to understand what "BCA reading from offset 0x100" means and how it helps us.

First: A clean copy of NSMB Wii already works on all USB-Loaders...they patch the game on the fly, no special cIOS required.
Second: NSMB Wii is the only game with this protection right now.

Now: USBLoaders don't need this cIOS16. CFG-Loader, uLoader and probably USBLoader GX can add the BCA-Data from an external File themself. No Patching of the Disc/ISO required. Just put the file with the BCA-Code on the SD/USB, and the Loader will patch the game on the fly. A very clean and good solution. You can rip the Data straight from a retail Disc with uLoader/CFG-Loader and save it. And it should be included in the Releases too.

This cIOS here is for Disc-Users (especially cIOSCORP ones), which can now patch the BCA-Data at the Off-Set 0x100 in, and the cIOS should do the rest. Though, the patched game has to be loaded with cIOSrev16, which requires a Loader or an IOS with the rev16-Contents. Not a clean method, you won't have 1:1 Backups anymore, and have to patch your ISOs with a Patcher/Hexeditor.

(Btw: Searching is the word. I've posted this or something simular a few pages back.)

Cioscorp users can use the other patch as well to get the game to work. The BCA patching the usb loaders do with external BCA files, only works when using Hermes cIOS.

I'm not going to use this in cIOSCORP, due to it not fixing DL support, and the fact that you still need to patch NSMB (just the BCA patch, instead of the main.dol patch).

Is wanin still putting as much effort in these newer releases than he did before "leaving"?
What do you guys think?

Personally, I'm going to stick with rev13a for wad management, and IOS222 v4 for USB.

I dont think he is putting in as much effort just now but I think this could be too see how people accepted this.

Practically every revision he made was met with a complaints thread with hundreds of posts and people saying it was "Broken" rather than being thankfull he was trying and just not using it if they didnt find it usefull.

I personally didnt see the point of moaning to someone who does this for nothing and gives up his spare time. Hopefully in the future he might sort out any missing support (like fat) and work to improving it.

I thank him and anybody else (youself included da_letter_a) for all of the time they give up to help us unfotunate non coders whether your mods help me or not.

Keep up the good work and thanks again for all your efforts

mario bros. now works via DVD, all I needed was rev 16 and uloader, ive never needed ios222. Now just need neogamma to support rev16 and cioscorp 3.6 (not yet install) wonder if it works well?
