I tried updating one of my IOS with the latest installer (cIOS installer Xr20b) but now when I load it up (the installer) I just get a black screen?

What did I do wrong?

It was bad enough the installation menu was confusing...

More info:

I'm having a bit of an issue, I downloaded the cios installer and I think, or at least thought I installed something with cIOS 56 or 57? and I think I might have used 249 as a base?

I don't really understand but now I can't seem to load anything in HBC, all I get is a black screen and my wii controller goes off. Pressing reset on the console brings me back to HBC.

HBC wants me to update to 1.0.8 but I'm afraid in doing so I wont be able to get back to the HBC menu.

HBC says it's using IOS 61 v21.29? I don't remember it doing that...?

you need to read up a bit more before you start messing with things u dont understand. case and point: if the cios installer is confusing then you shouldnt be messing with it. If you "think" you used 249 as a base for cios, you shouldnt be messing with it.

updarte your hbc youll be fine and dont worry about the ios its running from. Reinstall cios dont mess with anything.

I just tried installing rev20b with 56 as base @ slot 249

Change log (vXr20b):

Fixed the bug in the Installer that prevented the installation from completing on some consoles.
used 20b because of this (haven't tried 20) .. atm 'Finishing installation, please wait' has been up for like 10 minutes .. is this a hang-up ?

did it actually finish or do I need to do it again ?

No, I had cIOS v19 installed before, but that was months ago when I was trying to make MH3 work.

I noticed there was a new version and figured I'd update it, but the instructions are confusing because it's not clear what you're actually installing. I had to sit and think about what it's actually asking for v19 because it's not worded properly. Then, I was able to explain what it was doing.

I just tried doing the update for HBC and the same exact thing happens when I load anything through HBC. Black screen and controller goes dead.

No, because I can't load up anything through HBC.

wait: I can load this. Gimme a sec.

syscheck report is OK, but you are using patched IOS36, could be a problem. Can you run Multi Mod Manager? If yes, go to the last point, click A, select IOS249, press A, go to the App menu (first point) and select the cIOS installer.

Did you update to 1.0.8 HBC?

Something doesn't seem right. Normally some of the older system menu IOS's are stubbed on updating to > 4.0 which unless the report is just not showing, is not in your case. I do remember being able to fix some of my problems by updating IOS 36 or 38 to the latest versions.

Nope, because when I tried updating it downloaded whatever it needed to download and when I suppose it started up, the screen went black and the controller lost connection.

It was like that so I hit reset and it was still on 1.0.6

I don't know. I followed the guide to the letter in updating my wii to 4.2 as per the gbatemp guide. The only thing I know I did is made a nand backup sometime on april 4th? and installed the cIOS v19 which I think is this one: http://filetrip.net/f9911-cIOS-Installer-Xr19.html

I tried running DOP-Mii v12 and it doesnt run. MMM i have and it doesnt run. I think i removed the wad manager program (just the one in the apps folder) after i put MMM in there ages ago.

I notice I have 3351 for 36, how would I update to 3607? Would that even help?

I was able to get YAWMM to work, now what?

I tried using 249 at the first YAWMM menu, and I got a whole bunch of shit on my screen.

Theres an exception and a stack dump and code dump

I tried loading up the latest hackmii installer, and it doesn't work. Same issue.

Do I restore my nand or do I start from the beginning and do a bannerbomb and try to reinstall everything?

If I uninstall 249 or 250 using yawmm i get a 1017 error

I ended up getting it to work by reinstalling and changing the base used, but not without updating and reinstalling other ioses.

and I was trying to delete the ios while using a different ios.
