Hacking Cheats won't work?

I have the r4 english firmware and tried to download from the Cheat Compilation thread many times now. I tried with both cheat.dat and usrcheat.dat and nothing shows up. I even downloaded the r4 custom and patched the menu.dat, but all that did was make everything chinese....

Is it something wrong with my r4 or am i doing soemthing wrong here?

Then you should use the CHEAT.DAT from HERE and use R4CCE to remove EVERY game/code that you don't need.

An even better solution would would be to ditch the R4 firmware altogether, it's faulty and out of date. Instead use the YSMenu firmware and the USRCHEAT.DAT from the above page and then every single cheat will show up without altering or patching anything.

Is there a simpler wa to fix this with out completly changing it?

Unfortunately not. The R4 firmware has limitations regarding cheat databases. Your only options are to change to database or change your firmware.

(Or change to a better flashcart, preferably one without R4 in its name.)
