Hardware cheats, help??

hi, im completely lost on how to patch GBA games with cheats, a step-by-step guide would be greatly appreciated.
First off, Ihave no idea how to patch them, as in 0%.
Second I already have cht files, so no need for links or anything like that.
Third, I also have the EZ 4 client already.
And well, thats pretty much it
I just have to know how to patch them with cheats
