When I'm charging my 3DS, the charging light stays on. I've charged it for over 10 hours, and still the light was on. Still, whenever I have charged a while the battery seems full at the home screen and I can play for a couple of hours. This appeared to have happened after the June update. Anyone else know why this is happening? It's kindof annoying to not really be able to know when it's fully charged.

It' a known problem, but there's nothing you can do about it at the moment (except maybe contact Nintendo).

There are more people, including me, experiencing this problem here and here.

I noticed that too!

Once I turned the 3DS on the light stopped though.

I hope it doesn't over charge?

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. Though, how am I suppose to know if it's charged or not if the light continues to be on? O_

Take the battery out for a second, put it back in, and it'll function correctly again. Worked for me. But, my 3DS is only 24 hours old so I had no streetpass data, etc to lose.

Do you lose data by taking out your battery?

It only resets the time.

There have been reports of some Streetpass glitch where you can't meet the same person again but that was supposedly fixed

So can we assume if we put the 3DS into the charger for 4 hours we can assume it's fully charged then?

Oh wait really? I put my 3DS in my charger when I had the 2.0.0-2 update. But I just updated again. Hopefully the light shall go off when I charge it later...

This happened to me too but on the 2.1.0-3 update it went away.
maybe the update cause this.
The June 6th update caused the problem, and the orange charge light would never turn off, even when the system was fully charged. The June 15th update fixed this issue, and now the orange light turns off when the 3DS is fully charged. I'm really glad they fixed this, since it was getting annoying.
