ROM Hack Changing 512 kb save to 1 mb?

Is there anyway I can convert my 512 KB .sav to a 1 MB .sav?

I know there are blank 1 MB saves out there but I dont want to lose all the progress I have already made.

help?

grab a hex editor and add 512KB worth of blanks(00 in hex) on the end.
or grab one of those clean 1MB saves and paste the contents of your own save over it with a hex editor.
