Seriously, what's going on? This has happened on two different WiFi networks, and I can reproduce it. Has this happened to anyone else? I haven't heard of this issue on any other boards.

Ummm...This isnt a crash just a error connecting to that specific wifi, Likely the wifi sides fault reboot your router...
I'm not sure. It's happened on multiple networks, excluding my home network and mobile hotspot. Usually errors out when the WiFi network should show a captive portal.

Yup, just an error, although Nintendo doesn't specify what the hell it means...

Hm, odd I hope it doesn't come from faulty networking hardware, I've ran into it more than enough. Might have to give them a call.

I have also ran into this issue on v1 accepting to connect to Travelodge wifi but not o2 wifi (both are captive portals)

i honestly think drivers for the wifi adapter is bugged between this crash like the tc showed and numerous reports of people having wifi issues.
this console was definitely rushed

What are you talking about? That is a crash, even if it's handled or not.

Even if you don't wanna define it as a "crash", it's certainly not a normal error, that's like if they would force you to restart the console cause you used the wrong password.
