Hacking Categorii Package w/ Folders Already Set-up

what problem specifically r u having, if u copied the files in the package to your SD card, its already set up properly.

I think he is lost after that, on where his apps go in your package. I have not set my card yet so I am not 100% sure, thats why I leave it to the pro. BTW how a forwarder will see his path now? Are forwarder\channels still working with your package? TY

i put everything to the root and then i try loading it and everything gets switched to a different folder and all i get in HBC is the Back Botten! help.....

if u have a forwarder channel (say for snes9x), you must currently have snes9x in the "apps" folder, so if you are not in your emulators folder (say if u r in your media folder) it will not launch. This is why I keep all the apps I have forwarder channels for in the main apps folder and I make sure to go back to that folder before exiting homebrew

there is a solution for this, but it requires some minor code editing, u could change your channels forwarder path (using devkit pro) to try apps/snes9x/boot.dol first, and if it doesn't find it, have it look under apps_emulators/snes9x/boot.dol it will work all the time

thats because I have not included apps in the different folders.

you can organize your own apps this way

move/copy all your emulator apps from apps (or apps_, or wherever they are saved) to sd:/apps_emulators, so now when u go to that folder it should be there

basically think of apps_installers, apps_media, apps_emulators etc. as individual apps folders, you need to put apps inside those folders the same way you would your normals apps folder

this seems to be just what i have needed for a bit i have a ton of apps and this should do the trick thank you my northen brother from a nother mother keep it up we need more homebrew apps its lacking as of late

yea, that is just ONE folder/template... it requires u make multiple copies of it and edit each meta.xml to link from one folder to another, the package I've uploaded already has all that done for you (I've also taken out the ridiculous password you would need to switch folders which is in the wiibrew download)

Uh, what password is in the wiibrew download? That line is commented out with and the passcode that is there is just to demonstrate what the keys are called. Besides, there are 11 keys in that code and categorii only uses a max of 10 (the 11th would be ignored, i think).

To get your apps working again, you need to rename apps_ to apps.
It sounds like you used the meta.xml file that comes with the wiibrew download and only edited it partially. The vanilla meta.xml just renames apps to apps_ and then renames it back so you don't see any change.

I don't see why team twizzers never implemented some type of hierarchy into HBC. It should be simple.

Hell, Why hasn't anyone else yet made some type of other application other than HBC. There's many coders out there but no one has made anything new in a long time.

this is exactly what i was thinking when i was watching the video on this thing. it seems really convoluted and slow (i understand that this is probably the only way to do this kind of thing within HBC as it stands.. and I commend you on your efforts)

but surely it would be better option to just have a HBC hack or a whole new app which support opening subfolders etc. it cant be much of a hack (dont know if HBC's source code is public or not)

unfortunately i dont think it is public (I could be wrong, but i doubt it), but other apps (like wiixplorer) could be modded into what you describe (not by me unfortunately, not smart enough, lol). Hopefully Team Twiizers integrates something like that into their next HBC update.

there are now two pre-set packages

Categorii v2.0 Pre-set Package #1 (Tree Style)
One category (lets call it apps_) that consists only of links to all the other categories, and all the other categories would have a link back button that take you back to the main folder (apps_)

AND

Categorii v2.0 Pre-set Package #2 (Web Style)

This is the "Web" package, so each categorii has links to every other categorii (like a web)

is there demand for forwarder channels that are "categorii compatible"? For example, would anyone like a wad manager system menu channel that forwards to the following locations.

SD:/apps_installers/WADManager/boot.dol
SD:/apps/WADManager/boot.dol
USB:/apps_installers/WADManager/boot.dol
USB:/apps/WADManager/boot.dol

this would allow your forwarder channels on your system menu to work regardless of what categorii folder you are using in the HBC (or in other words this would allow your forwarder channels on your system menu to work regardless of what folder is currently names "apps")

I've already made a couple channels like this, but I don't know if I want to bother with them all.

I can't get this to work. I have set up my SD card like this but it doesn't seem to boot the dol. USB:/apps_installers/WADManager/boot.dol It just returns me to the homebrew channel.

I would kill for a hbc that would actually read from my hard drive. And now, back to the topic.
