Hi!
I have a Nintendo Switch on ver 3.0.0 (seems important for homebrewing in the future)
What would happen if i run a game that needs a higher version? (i.e. SM Oddysey)?

Would it auto-update or just give me a message saying it needs a higher version?

Thanks

I hate the forced updates to keep playing... It's a business model that never should have come to fruition. I blame the Sony PSP, it's the first video game platform to pull this cat and mouse bullshit.

The cartridges have the firmware they need installed on them, and I believe it'll try and install it if you try running the game off the cartridge. I think you'll get a message to restart your Switch so it can finish applying the update, but I forget. If you want to stay on 3.0.0, just don't insert a cartridge with higher firmware in the first place, just to be safe.

It's smart for combating piracy.

Well, the piracy will always won the battle. So it is not smart anyway.

How many games can you pirate on the Switch right now? PS4? Xbox One? It seems like it works very well to me. Sure piracy could happen in the future but by that time the consoles and the games will be old.
