Hacking Can't access R4

Hi, i have my ds lite for over 7 years and 2day when i turned it on i cant acces my R4. everytime i into the r4 my top screen goes white and my btm screen goes black. pls help me fix this. ps. below are the pictures of my r4, and what happened to my ds lite after trying enter the game menu.

Maybe a timebomb?
Where did you get the firmware for the R4? I don't see any link on the cardtridge itself.
