Hacking Can you SoftMod a Wii 4.3 with a broken drive?

I have a Wii D2D running 4.3 that just had a drive failure. I had been using a WiiKey2 clip to play my backup games. I was hoping that I could SoftMod it and play my backup games off a Hard Drive. After reading about SoftModing a Wii with 4.3 it looks like you need to run an exploit from an original game. Since my drive is bad, I can't run any game from it for the exploit. Am I out of luck here or does anyone know of a way to softMod a Wii 4.3 without a game?

If it is a virgin Wii (it hasn't been softmodded at all), then you are out of luck. Either replace the disc drive, or stick with playing VC and WiiWare games.

Swap a drive from a friends wii, hack; then switch them back.

Make note that you only need to use the exploit once (to install the HomeBrew Channel). Do you have anything softmodded at all? (the HBC? A forwarder channel? ...anything will do to handle the rest without a DVD drive)

This is a virgin Wii. Never been touched except to install the WiiKey2 clip. No Homebrew or anything. I have thought about borrowing a drive from somebody, that's a good idea. I may just have to pony up and buy a new machine. Thanks
