If it's a phat or an early slim that has had 3.55 at some point, you'll have to downgrade via the e3 flasher (costs around 70$).
Otherwise, no.

depends on the model and if it has ever had the 3.55 firmware before. If so you can use hardware to downgrade the ps3 back to 3.55 or you're straight outta luck for now

Look at the bottom of PS3 model number, what is it? Does it have any PS2 backward compatibility?

Good news is that CECHK is NOR-based model. Find someone that has E3 Flasher and pay them a fee to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 (or buy a flasher and do it yourself). Then you can install 4.40 CFW.

Appears to be a PS3 Phat that shipped with OFW 2.16. You'll have to downgrade to 3.55 before hacking it.

Hardware flashers. Not for the faint hearted. You can kill your PS3 if you do it wrong.

You can't use any standard USB tools, you need specific hardware to do this, and you need to open up the PS3 and junk.
