I have tried to send the payload a few times via NXLoader, and it filed with an offset issue

I rebooted switch a few times and tried again, but it wouldn't work, I then went to try TegraRcmSmash and noticed that my switch wasn't recognized via USB in RCM, and now I can't seem to get it to be recognized on my phone again either...

Thinking maybe I have somehow broken it? Switch and everything else is working fine, and usb is detected when the switch "boots to real firmware"

Any ideas would be welcome

Thanks

Did you follow my guide? You need the apx drivers for Switch, and and cable needs to support data.

So the cable was working fine with NXLoader, but after a few failed attempts to send the payload, I tried it on windows, and now windows doesn't ping atall, to even install the drivers, and NXloader doesn't see my switch anymore..

Are you sure that you have booted into RCM? There is no way the payload could damage the USB C (afaik), this is a cable / port / driver issue, or you are simply not booted into RCM when you connect the Switch.

Please write in detail the steps you have taken for us to assist you further.

So i repeated the steps that were working, turn the device off, then hold vol + and then press power both for 3 seconds, switch doesn't boot and is still black, seemed the same as when it was working, but now doesn't seem to be picked up by anything... I have ordered a RCM jig rather than the pn method that was working....hope I can get it working again...I want to play flashback on my switch :(

Does it still boot into Horizon normally?

Hold the power button for 15 seconds and then it should reboot.

yeah, the only way to get it to boot after the black screen, is to hold power button for a bit, then i press again and the normal switch ui works, and the usb cable plugged in it detected by windows straight away....

really? crap...don't wanna open the thing up really....

Ill try a different cable and computer tomorrow, strange how it was working and now seems to have stopped.

Did you say offset error with nxloader? I usually get those when trying with my phone or tablet (hopefully the app gets updated). I would assume you're having a driver issue like it happened to me on my first win7 system. After booting into the second I made sure you properly install the correct driver to the 'apx' device. If you get it wrong your switch won't be seen as in RCM state by the tool.

Yeah, I did get an offset error, so I tired in windows, didn't even get a "bing" so there was no device to install the drive against, I then plugged back into my phone, and my phone won't pop up asking to connect either, so its like usb stopped completely...not had a chance to try again yet, as im waiting for my jig to arrive rather than messing with tin foil and my joycon.

Then I'm thinking you're having a cable issue as from what you describe your device would already be in RCM state. Is your cable charging your switch fine?

Yeah the cable charges the switch fine, and did work the first 5/6 times trying via NXLoader, but doesn't now seem to work, but it does "bing" in windows when the real switch ui loads and its connected, so that still seems to be fine..wondering if maybe the "mod" got a bit misplaced, and I wasn't booting to RCM properly, but I kinda assumed it was RCM or normal ui...

just a little worried that i've messed it up and won't be able to do homebrew..

My situation same with you, try to change type c cable.
The cable i used before suddenly fault, it can detect by the computer and phone but can't run rcm mode. (just in charge mode)
After that I change new cable work fine both in nxloader and computer.
Maybe the cable quality is bad or something make cable break easily.
