AFAIK you need a hack or mod of some kind, to have PS2 copy imports/backups to HDD from its optical drive. The HDD loading software I know about doesn't itself disable PS2's security check.

Thats really weird cause I load my games via a usb 2.5 drive and the majority of my games are NTSC and I (being in the UK) have a PAL console. Out of those NTSC games are Kingdom Hearts 1+2 and they work flawlessly with all 3 USB loaders ive tried

Just so I'm clear: While I do download games often, I'm planning on buying a legit copy of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix+.

Which loader would you recommend I use? Would ESR work?

I would use ESR I;ve never come across any issues with it

Thanks. I'll stop acting nooby now. So, get Free McBoot installed (which I can't personally do since none of my USB sticks are compatible with the PS2), get ESR, buy Kingdom Hearts. Thanks everyone.

One last thing, any other NTSC exclusive games anyone could recommend? (I don't care if they're English or Japanese, I never have problems with Japanese games despite knowing none of the language)

If the person installing fmcb does it properly, you shouldn't need to install esr separately. Also get a game called dragon quest 8, not ntsc exclusive but a really good game and one of my favourite games ever. It's sad that I'll never play another game as good as it again.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Also, I need to know if install FMB will format my memory card? I have some important saves on there that I can't affor to lose.

Yes it formats the mc. I'd recommend buying another memory card and moving the saves or ask the person installing it to back them up then copy them over when the install is done.

usb is different. I was referring to the PS2-side utility to put games onto an internal HDD. (slow as it is) Once already on HDD, the region check is broken. But you first have to get them there.
