So yeah...SvR 2009 was dumped today, and it's actually a decent game. I don't even mind the touchscreen controls as much as some seem to. BUT, I do agree that it would be a much better game if it controlled with the d-pad + buttons instead of the d-pad + touchscreen. I know there are some pretty good hackers around here, so I was wondering if anyone would like to try to take on a project like this. I know I'm not the only one who would like to see this hack.

Here's how I think the touchscreen controls could be transferred to the buttons:

Strike - Y Button
Weak Grapple - Tap A Button once
Strong Grapple - Tap A Button twice (Since weak grapples are handled by drawing a single circle, and strong grapples are handled by drawing a double circle, it'd probably be easier to do it this way than to have strong grapples done by holding A)
Run - X Button (I don't know how well this could be reassigned to a button, since running is only handled through double tapping on the d-pad)
Turn opponent on mat over - Left or right + A
Ground grapple - A when near opponent's head/feet

Actually, pretty much anything that's handled by drawing circles in the game could be reassigned to the A button. Just have the A button function the same as drawing a single circle.

In fact, the only things I can think of that could pose a problem are the submission system, since you have to slide an icon on the screen back and forth to apply pressure/escape, and the pin system, since you have to touch numbers EBA style to kick out. Also getting up after getting knocked down could be a problem, since you have to slide the stylus back and forth. But I'm pretty sure that the game reads any touchscreen input in this situation, so pressing Y and A rapidly SHOULD have the same effect.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that something like this isn't impossible, and would greatly improve the game. Anyone interested in giving it a shot?

A request such as this would go farther at a place like Kodewerx, where the hackers hang out.

is a good idea.
but run with R

This is a great idea since I've played the game until now I can't win!!! when I try to grapple the opponent by drawing a circle on them they always took the advantage from me......

i want a hack like that. its unplayable with the touchscreen controls and gives me a headache.
i just want to use buttons, which would make the game get rated 50% higher. controls are so important, why dont they added OPTIONAL button control from the start? i already hated the 2008 smackdown for the ds for its touchscreen only controls.
