Hacking Broken R4i-sdhc

I got two R4i's that underwent some type of damage, not sure what but looks like teeth marks {yikes}. they just will not be recognized by any of my systems. i got a phat, a lite and xl but the xl wouldn't see them anyway, they are only r4i 1.4s.

anyone have any experience troubleshooting the hardware? i would like to try to save one at least, maybe both. i don't know where to start never had any issues with damage before.
