Hacking Bricked wii

Hi guyz!!
I dont know if this is the right place to put this (if not i'm sorry!!) but here we go!

My friend brought me his bricked wii (LU35), he tried to downgrade and got it bricked!!
The wiimote turns on the wii (so no wifi module prob.)
- No preloader
- No bootmii
- No savemiifrii working (GC controller)
- No NAND back-up

My question is:

If i install a modchip (Wiikey, less expensive!!), would this enable me to boot wad manager autoboot and recue his wii?
Or do i have other options?

A modchip is useless since the system menu is dead.

If the wii is from before Oct 2008, it's likely unbrickable by someone who can install bootmii with an infectus (one of our users here, DeadlyFoez, offers this as a paid service).

If it's newer than that...it's a doorstop since you don't have a NAND backup.
