It seems my GPU on the Wii is overheating? I don't understand how that is even possible as I barely even play it. And with composite cables it looks perfectly good.
After the GPU has overheated for quite some time, the damage turns permanent. Your GPU is busted.

What I think is that the cables you bought are really cheap cables from an unknown brand (if it belongs to any brand, I couldn't find the brand anywhere on the product's link) and they are likely not to keep up with the Wii standards. If I were you I would buy some madcatz component cables ($8.00) for the wii. I bought one set in Sam's Club around a year ago as a gift to a friend and they worked really nice. I think someone mentioned buying those cables earlier in this thread. In my case I bought the Nyko ones from Kmart ($30.00) but I think it was unnecessary as the madkatz performs equally nice.

If the cables I recommended to you give the same problem then it could be what Raulpica told you above.

cables dont cause overheating. period. anyone that tells you otherwise is lying, uninformed, or stupid. so long as there is no SHORTING between the cables, you're good to go. the larger the cable, the less resistance. the smaller the cable, the more resistance. but the output signal will only be SENT at a PRE-SPECIFIED voltage that WILL NOT CHANGE, no matter what cable you use. Now, how much of that electrical energy REACHES your television will change based on the type of wires you use, but, and read this carefully, UNLESS THE TELEVISION IS REPORTING BACK TO YOUR WII HOW MUCH SIGNAL IT IS RECEIVING AND THE WII IS ALTERING THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE( this doesnt happen btw) THEN YOUR CABLES WILL NOT CAUSE AN OUTPUT VOLTAGE CHANGE AND CANNOT BE THE CAUSE OF YOUR OVERHEATING.

that said, lots of things cause the stupid hollywood chip to overheat and there IS some good advice in this thread. best of luck!

I bought some rubbish 3rd party component cables. Hooked em up, the color tinge is all off and everything looks bad. Week later I found official Nintendo ones for 1.00 at the thrift store. They look glorious.

Though I've been told all cables are the same. Mine were probably faulty.

I submitted the RMA and this what I got on there website.

Please return the item to the address below. The RMA number must be visible on the outside of the package.

We recommend sending the return using USPS First Class Mail if the package is 13oz or less. Otherwise use a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope or a USPS Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box. The post office makes priority mail boxes and envelopes available free of charge.

Does that mean I have to pay shipping and stuff? If I do then I will just keep the cables...

EDIT: Woah I just played the Legend of Zelda on both 480i and 480p. Huge difference.

I still recommend you get the official ones. They have the best reputation of any cables.

I just thought that all these cables were the same thing fake or real. Because I bought a fake $2 HDMI cable which works perfectly with my Ps3.

Thousands of reviews would indicate otherwise.

150 people gave the product 5 stars. So I thought it was good.

For digital signals cable quality does not influence picture quality. But if the cable is to bad it will simply not work reliably.
Analog signals otoh get degraded more or less depending on cable quality.

I was talking about third party in general, but it still applies here. You have to look at the good and the bad reviews. Lots of the "bad" reviews on your product describe the problems you are having. Also look at the average rating, not just how many people gave it 5 stars. It got a 3.8/5 stars on average, where as the officials got 4.2/5.

If you don't feel like reading all the reviews, click the reviews page and look at "The most helpful favorable review" and "The most helpful critical review". Here are the two from your product.
