The problem here is that you potentially open the gates by allowing just one sale to be posted on the USN. The other time in question was when somebody mentioned a sale on expandable memory products. They were just told they were advertising, that nobody wanted to see it, etc. This was a couple months before you were mag staff. I don't care if it's the game of the century, a sale is a sale and should be treated as such. Being a fun game is a shit excuse. Anybody that knows Onlive even a little know they are doing those $5 Friday things. Other good games are bound to show up. Steam has excellent sales all of the time.
People bitch enough about the USN as it is. I don't think we need to load it down with sales that those who are interested will already know about anyways.
Not trying to bitch, really. I just don't like seeing this given favor when sales this good aren't all that uncommon to those that use the likes of Steam.
The gates have been opened since the USN has been around. If what you think was actually real, then the USN would've been flooded with all these "sales" threads and we would've created a rule or something in regards to this a while ago. But it's not because people hardly post them, they only post them when it's a good deal about something popular.
Sales are news just as much as anything else, there's no reason why we shouldn't allow it. Hell, if it wasn't for this news thread, I wouldn't have been able to nab a great game at a great price and learn about an interesting new platform. It helped me and probably others. That's what counts in the end.
