the bootmii folder is to boot into bootmii... so once removed from the sd you cannot boot into bootmii untill you place the folder back into the sd card...

anybody has any idea on how to get the sd card be read on pc after the format/backup with the bootmii nand dumper? i cannot back it up to pc as the sd card cannot be read on pc :s

bootmii will format the card to fat32. your computer should be able to read that just fine

How do you backup the nand backup SD card to computer?

1.copy all files?
2. make a iso with ultra iso or similar?
3. not possible?

That's odd. Does the SD partition appear in Disk Management? (start -> run -> compmgmt.msc -> disk management)
Also try to access it with a Linux LiveCD (e.g. Knoppix).

Last thing can this be installed as BOTH boot2, and an ios like one wont overwrite/overpower the other?
Thanks for the support mate, but i dont knoe if you can install boot2 as a wad. I think if a Ninty Copyrighted file so i think i cant post it.

How did you make more than 1 backup... different SD cards?

Nice. I've been meaning to delete my system menu in celebration of BootMii's release but was waiting to see if it worked for others before doing so. Awesome.

Is this confirmed? I've dumped my NAND 3 times now.

create a file on your SD card in /bootmii/bootmii.ini (or open it if it's already there) and type this:
AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU

if you want it to boot to HBC just replace SYSMENU with HBC.
Next time you turn on your wii, it'll show BootMii, then after 5 seconds it will automagicallly start the system menu
smile.gif

If you want to stop it from autobooting, just use the GC controller directional keys.
I don't know about having both bootmii and preloader.

i have this in my boot.ini file

VIDEO=NTSC
AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU

but when bootmii loads up it just sits on the meu screen - it doesnt go thru to the wii system menu. do u need to delete the comments from the file, or am i missing spaces. tried everything. it just sits there on the bootmii screen. please help

Well... your right somehow... A NAND Cell/Block can take about 2.000.000 write/delete cycles before it will
be destroyed... (This does mean you could overwrite your NAND 10 times a day for 547 years before your NAND would be damaged) In tests some NAND Devices got damaged after 16.000.000 write/delete cycles...
Every NAND Device has some extra Blocks to "replace" bad blocks... After all the life span of an hdd is less then NAND.
And it's normal to have some bad blocks. every, or almost every, NAND device or hdd comes with bad blocks from the factory.
it's immpossible to avoid. Nothing is perfect.

Yeah, I had to delete the comments to get it to autoboot properly. Strangely enough though, this morning when I powered on my Wii it once again didn't follow the .ini commands. I opened it up and some of the comments had returned. Not sure what's going on with that.
