It takes about 8 secs for me to load BootMii. It's pretty annoying and I got the AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU.

What happens is after 8 secs of black screen, BootMii shows up and another 5 secs to autoselct the System Menu. Not really effective is it?

Ideas anyone?

Wont be installing BootMii, dont see it attraction.

You don't see the attraction of being able to back up your entire Wii, so that no matter how badly you may ever brick it, you can restore without paying Nintendo $200+ (only to get your Wii shipped back with NO homebrew capabilities)?

If your Wii was manufactured past mid 2008, or you for some other reason can't install to boot2, then yes, your statement makes sense. But it seems anyone interested in Homebrew should at the least give the boot2 install a try... it can save a world of headache (and heartache, depending on just how much you love that little white box).

I've got a little problem, i ran the installer but didnt install bootmii it said i can install all of it but i only updated the HBC nothing else, now the HBC uses a diff IOS than it did before and it will not read anything off my SD card so i cant run any sorta code, anyway to downgrade my HBC back to 1.0.1? I do have wad manager channel so maybe somone can share there 1.0.1 HBC wad? thanks in advance.

System specs are:
4.0u patched installed and ran ios downgrader to have trucha in all of them again (dont know if that matters)
d2ckey chip
sdhc 8gb sd card that worked flawlessly before upgrading HBC, maybe the HBC repatched my IOS?

Try to either remove SD card, or delete the bootmii folder on the SDcard

Edit : typos

strange, BootMii boots pretty fast for me (1-2 sec after power on)
I agree the autoload feature is not so convenient yet: it has to load the interface first then it pick either the hbc or system menu, I think it should be made user transparent, at least the elf should automatically load IOS & launch the selected title without drawing anything...

because the best way to autoboot the system menu is still to have the sdcard removed on startup, it's faster this way and this is what the guy asked for ?

hbc 1.0.2 has a bug where it cant read SDHC so if thats what your using you can downgrade with a regular SD card of place your apps on a USB device that is formated to FAT32 i think or you can just simply wait a coulpe of days for hbc 1.0.3 with SDHC fix

Some SD cards apperently take really long to get recognised. My Kingston takes 20 seconds. The problem bootmii has is that it can't do anything without the SD-card so autoboot won't make it faster.
I think bootmii should have an option where it loads from NAND and falls back to the SD-card if it doesn't find anything there...

Hey, tried installing this on firmware 3.2e Serial LEH210 etc using a normal SD card. When i install homebrew it says Success and then kicks me out to a black screen.
I rebooted, loaded homebrew and all i get is a black screen, nothing else. I did have 1.0.1 and that worked fine. I deleted the new one through Channels setting and did the twilight hack and got 1.0.1 back perfectly.
Also i installed BootMii but it says:
Can be installed in one Variant - The Installed boot1 version presents a boot2 install (-2) i can only install as IOS which i have done and it says Success but nothing seems to have happened...

Can anyone shed any kind of light for me?

First screen says:
Using IOS Versions: Installer: 36, Channels: 51
The Homebrew Channel: Can Be Installed
DVDX: Can Be Installed
BootMii: Can be installed in one variant
The Installed boot1 version prevents a boot2 install (-2)

Install the new HBC and if you press the Home Button there you will see one Option to Boot into BootMii
You installed as IOS then, installing under boot2 dose not have that button in HBC 1.0.2.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
