Hacking BootMii - Failed (-1)

I'm having the worst luck modding this Wii. I've modded a wii before and didn't have any problems. However, here is where I'm struggling. When I load the first set of files:

Apps
Config
Private
Wad
boot.elf
boot_wadmanager.dol
cIOS38.rev14-Installer.dol
database.txt

And I'm able to install HBC no problem. As soon as i attempt to install BootMii as an IOS, I get the error message listed int he title. I get this no matter what set of files I use (I've tried several different sites and their 4.2 methods (all using the bannerbomb method).

Any idea why I'm getting this failed (-1) message? I can't seem to find anything on this. Thanks so much for any help!

Is the SD card more than 1GB? Is the SD cards' lock on?

I'd say sd card is incompatible with bootmii

It's a 4GB SDHC card / Kingston SD4

Tried both locked and unlocked.

I used a sandisk last time but I assumed this sd card would work. Perhaps not?

Ya, I'm pretty sure any cards past 2GB will cause several problems with softmodding your wii.

Unless you're on SM4.0 and above.

The system menu version you have doesn't mean a thing when it comes to which apps can or can't read SDHC cards. Remember that homebrew was compatible with SDHC half a year before 4.0 came out.

I would guess that switching to a smaller SD (under 2GB) would help.

Make sure it's formatted as fat32, and if you have an SD lock switch make sure it's disabled. Try various cards, doesn't necessarily need to be 2GB or less

Dobrý den, potřebuji pomoc, nemohu nainstalovat bootmii, i když mám podporovanou 2GB SD kartu Patriot, vždycky se mi to zobrazí jen Hackmii installer v1.2 selhal (-1). Zkoušel jsem 3 další SD karty, ale nefungovaly. Byla to i sandisk 16gb SD karta, měla by fungovat, ale nefunguje. Pak jsem zkusil kingston 32gb SD kartu, měla by fungovat, ale nefunguje. Chatgpt mi dokonce poradil, abych zkusil naformátovat SD kartu Patriot na FAT16, ale to mi nepomohlo s instalací bootmii. Všechno je nastaveno správně včetně formátu SD karty a všech složek, ale stále to nefunguje. Začínám být zoufalý a pochybuji, jestli to vůbec bude fungovat. Mám černou Wii, modelové číslo... RVL-001 (EUR) a podle všech dostupných informací by tato konzole měla podporovat bootmi. Už jsem zkoušel nainstalovat všechny softmody a zkontrolovat, jestli je problém v softmodu, ale žádný z nich nefungoval. Nejdřív jsem nainstaloval preloader a pak usbloader gx, ale po chvíli to přestalo fungovat a vždycky se to zaseklo při načítání zdrojů a pak se celá wii zhroutila a tak od té doby se snažím nainstalovat bootmi, ale nefunguje to a nemohl jsem to nainstalovat ani když jsem softmod dělal poprvé. Může mi prosím někdo pomoct? Byl bych moc rád, děkuji.

Does the wii register your sd card? Maybe your sd card reader is broken. What exploit did you use to launch bootmii? If str2hax or bluebomb then this is a possibility, any other exploit involving an SD card so yours must be fine if it was used to launch into the hackmii installer in the first place.

I'd start by checking if there's a write lock switch on your sd card and making sure you disable that.

Hey, I am having the same problem being unable to install bootmii. I used letterbomb and I tried both a 2GB sd card and a 64GB that I used to mod my other wii (which got botmii downloaded just fine). I have made sure all the lock switches are disabled but it still fails to mount

Do u get a no vulnerable ios message? You could try Modmii's hackmii solutions wizard

I have gone through the modmiis version and still had no sucsess. I uninstalled bootmii on the other Wii I modded and could not get it to reinstall on 3 different sd cards, same error every time: failed to mount sd card (-1)

Normally I'd say your sd card reader is busted, but it worked with letterbomb, so I'm not sure

Try launching bootmii directly without installing it, using Casper2Bootmii.bat in Modmii's support folder. If that works then at least that's something.

Also u can use nanddumper@ios to at least dump your nand without bootmii at all.
