    Hi guys,
I've gotten a boot sector virus somehow and now my computer refuses to start up. I have windows vista premium, and 160gb hard drive. I've tried using a recovery disk and once it goes past loading windows files, my computer shuts down instantly.

    Help please!

PS. I don't need to back my files up.

I think I've come to discover it's a motherboard failure, what other signs are there.
My safe mode wont boot and my vista seems to be working fine.

Try booting into Ubuntu or BartPE and seeing if that works.
