Possibility A:
Bob actually thought this was 'that' great, as often happens when losers make their first game, he thought "It took so long to get all these pixels in the right place, to make the characters the way I like them, and to make everything make sense in my mind.
Unknowingly he convinced himself that it was so great and cognitively he believed it because his subconscious was fooled into thinking that if he thought it was great, everyone would, and after all, he made it, and it's too hard to make any more, so why bother?!
Possibility B:
He never really made the game, he might have made a design document, but even that is skeptical, he's supposedly been working for 5 years on a game for a system and he hasn't taken any of it's best factors into place? He touted it real strong because he figured gamers will do good with anything after all this shovelware and bitching right? Never showed a real demo of the game before now, no one heard of it before a few months ago, but he's been working on it for FIVE years? Get real! He was attention whoring, and when it was absolutely obvious that Nintendo would NEVER give him Nitro SDK (As if it takes a fucking genius to realize that they're not going to give some random kid an exception to a rule, that makes all the other companies that work with Nintendo look like failures, and Nintendo won't risk relations to make one little kid feel happy). When his back was against the wall and everyone was saying "release anyway" he basically threw together the piece of crap he put together in maybe a month or two, and figured "Well, I gotta work somtehing out, at least there are a lot of people who still like it" and while he was at it "Make it as hard as possible so people just keep playing it over and over again until they beat it", hell while you're at it, don't make a save or pause feature so that they can't come back to it later.
I'm betting that if it wasn't built in, he wouldn't even shut off the screen when the DS closes, he's a friggin' amateur trying to ride the coat tails of great indie game designers like Pixel that have spent the time and have made masterpieces.
A kid exploring a house he just moved into and using boxes to block everything? That's about as mundane as "I just woke up, where am I?" "Oh, I have amnesia, must find single pathway that leads out of here!"

If you read, your response wouldn't be so hypocritical in it's nature. The fact of the matter is, I've been posting about how idiotic you morons are to wait for a game that's simply over-hyped and shows no promise. When he delivers you absolute shit and pretty much spits in your face you still worship him as if he's some sort of deity. Oh, and so you know, I'll probably be back to 'flame' all of you 'tards when the full game gets released, if it ever does, because I'll put money up to say that it'll be an absolute failure, just like 'Bob'.cleverconveyence said:I think it's pretty much common knowledge that he's done way more than post a demo. Your raaaaaaage, at the very least, is proof of that.
Any sloppiness (personally I thought it was pretty good, and I'm not the only one) can be attributed to several factors, not limited to divorcing a part of the game from the rest of the rom, and altering the demo to account for several architectures so that different devices can run it with little issue (the Nitro SDK would solve that, but Bob refuses to pirate it). The first version that got "leaked" wasn't intended to be distributed until it could be tested on various devices that Bob doesn't personally have.
Really, he's done so much more? He's had 5 years, I'd expect something at least half as good as what Pixel created in 5 years. But then again, I shouldn't compare an idiot with someone who actually just makes games instead of hyping them up.
What's the last game indie game you heard of that was REALLY hyped up during the making of it and then finished? I'll just wait for your answer.
Well, there are several problems with what you're saying. First of all there are tons of Homebrew that work fine across all if not at least almost every Slot-1 device without using Nitro SDK. There's no excuse to prep a demo this late if he's been dealing with Nintendo trying to get the Nitro SDK for HOW long now?
His refusal to pirate it is just further proof that it's going to turn out shitty, he tries to act heraldic, when in fact it's that he just can't handle it. Everyone knew that Nintendo wouldn't give him Nitro SDK, he doesn't deserve it, what's he done with these '5 years'? A shitty little demo, oh let's see MAYBE he ripped apart from his complete game that's nowhere to be seen, but if so why release only a demo, and NOW? So he's been working for 5 years with just little pictures and short video clips released, not any live demo at all? I find that very hard to believe. Furthermore the demo was leaked and even if it didn't work on every card (and it should), that's his fault for not compiling it right before he handed it off to ANYONE.
QUOTE(Icey @ Apr 1 2009, 12:04 AM) lol yeah we're the one's that are stupid. Not the biased idiot who "doesn't care" but posts paragraph after paragraph explaining why he doesn't care. Maybe you should wait for the full game to be released before flaming.

For some reason I remember N+ when I read this statementPyrofyr said:general gaming goals (DONT WASTE THE EXTRA SCREEN ON A GODDAN MAP UNLESS IT DOES SOMETHING, NUMBNUT)

Another thing that bothers me there is that you would pretty much need to have finished game in order to present it to Nintendo for them to decline.RupeeClock said:Okay, JUST to be fair here, the leaked demo was supposed to be the internal testing.
You know, for the purpose of making sure it would work on flash carts that Bob doesn't have access to.
That's true, it was leaked. He chose very poor Alpha testers which is understandable, but if he knew how to code worth a lick it would work without a problem, especially with all the programs we have to make sure it works on all carts.
He "protested" for 100 days, to advertise a complete game (or work on an unfinished game).greygoosecat said:The flaming here is pretty funny because you guys are relentless and your accusations of him are completely off the wall.
Off the wall? The faith in this fool is off the wall.
No doubt there are some games stupid enough to do this. N+ was nowhere near as good as N, it was also made to be on PC at first but they got a lucky break and got to console.Raestloz said:For some reason I remember N+ when I read this statement
Granted I won't be as optimistic as saying I'd like to see a full version of Bob's game (since such a thing might not exist). However, I have to say that in the right hands, Bob's demo could evolve into a great game, as it's one great foundation for an unknown "game".
It could be a simpler and more interactive version of The Urbz, doing things the way simple life demands it, light jokes, puzzles, stuff like that. Granted the demo itself shows no real promise, but like I said, it's a foundation for one potential game, if one can grab its concept and apply it
It's possible that this is indeed just a test of the engine if anything, but my doubt is very high.
