If you block wii.com then you block This site from sending ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! to your Wii [IMG]

The updates come from wii.com don't they? You probably need a wildcard though or IP's.

You might want to tell the people in this thread they are blocking the wrong dns(nus.cdn.shop.wii.com) then:

nus.cdn.shop.wii.com is ok, but only wii.com will not work, or I am a noob.

Well, that is a subdomain of wii.com so updates do come from there. You are right that just blocking wii.com will not block that address, unless like I said you use wildcards.

Explain to me why you're trying to block it.

Did you update your Wii to 3.4?

I like you ignore the fact that if the Wii automatically updates on 3.3, then shouldn't your Wii be at 3.4 just because you said you got the message about the update?

    THINK.

You don't want your Wii to update by yourself, you said you got the new message about the update. Using your logic, it should had 'updated' already, isn't this why you're hellbent on stopping all updates right now?

Unless you're content with 3.4 and just want to stop future updates, is this what you want to do?

As far as im aware - and someone please correct me if im wrong , but :

    Wii.com resolves to 219.96.82.180
The update files are kept on :
    nus.cdn.shop.wii.com which resolves to 213.254.248.17

Well my DI-524 allows you to block the whole wii.com domain (no wildcard needed).

I now have no access to the Weather and News channels (big deal).

One Domain name may have many servers over many IPs.
