"User" asked the same question yesterday at 12:43pm in a threadjacking, got an answer shortly thereafter - didn't want to read it, opened another thread, and got 8 times the responses.

Whats the lesson here? This is happening while we are having an ongoing situation and discussion, on how to stop this behavior, with moderator participation, and folks that tell us that we should report it.

The user doesn't care - he has gotten what he wanted.

This has to stop, and we need more action from moderators to help us get there.

Bought a 4.1 a couple months ago and have NOT connected it online yet. Haven't messed with DNS settings yet either. I've only powered it on to create a profile. I'm assuming it would be wise to leave it alone for now (until Atmosphere is released), or should I go in and set DNS? It requires you to connect in order to do that though, correct?

Don't enter any Wifi login information, and/or stay in airplane mode. If your switch has no access to the internet that has the same effect as using the DNS server that yellows8 refered to. As you are not on 3.0.0 that DNS server gives you no additional "benefit" (as in allowing you to launch homebrew, or blocking almost the entire internet, as you aren't connecting to the internet anyhow.).

This is to prevent Nintendo from flipping on the "supernag". Which prevents you from having access to the browser. 4.1.0 eventually might get a public browser entry point, which should eventually allow you to launch into CFW via a browser exploit.

If Nintendo switches on the supernag - you will need a jig and a powered USB device once in the future to switch it back. But then the Jig and the powered USB device, or a modchip - might turn out to be a faster way to launch CFW anyhow - we currently don't know. Maybe not.

Can you haz this more simple?

Sadly, no.

I don't necessarily want to have to report this behavior, when the reaction to it is non existent.

I didn't see the answer, I thought it was looked over, so yeah, I created another thread. Don't cry about it. If I saw it, I would have never created one. Why do you feel so entitled? Either help somebody, or don't. It's that simple. Nobody wants to read your lengthy essay-type posts, complaining, I can promise you that.

Anyways, thank you (to the ones who didn't whine) for the help everybody. I appreciate it.

The attitude of those users, flooding this community with their service requests time and time again - until they get what they want - has to change.

They can't position themselves to be "entitled to a swift and friendly answer" anymore, if you wan't to tackle the issue.

"I didn't see the answer, so I created another thread, so I would get more visibility for my service request -" is too easy to pull up as an excuse. You stated, that you didn't read the answer, so you believed no one has followed up? How does this work? Did you read the answers we gave you?

Have you bothered finding the thread where you asked again? Or did you literally just create a new one - which would give you more visibility, and didn't require you finding your old one?

Lol.

Again, thank you to those who didn't cry. I didn't realize somebody answered the question in another thread I commented on. But I appreciate the help. It is a forum, after all. That's why I love this place, people are always willing to help:)

Now the user is trying to undermine this being an issue.

What do we do now - get him banned?

This still doesnt work to make people think about what they are doing.

You literally have an issue with people teitering on the edge of revolt, and being burned out by the inability of users following basic rules of decency - and now they get hackled and maligned on top of it?

*Lol* is the best answer you are able to give them, conceptually? For them trying to assume responsibility for the communities they partake in?

While moderators still are nowhere to be seen, because they are not a part of this community in a sense, that they have any visibility or stakes in the proceedings?

This is not an issue you can tackle by having 0 flags open at the end of your day. Get together, discuss it, do something.

It seems you have not read the thread on Nintendo blocking the web applets. If you are on 4.1.0 you are waiting for Deja Vu to become public, if you go online even blocking updates you will lose that ability if Nintendo patches ns:vm. At that point there will be no difference between 4.1.0 and 5.0.2, so stay offline.

In the FAQ they said Deja Vu is only for 1.0.0. Did they figure out a way to make it work on 4.1.0 as well?

ONLY if u use the HBL DNS, the other DNS's do not have this "patch"
So the "patch" you're talking about is just blocking every hostname entirely with a dns proxy? because you put patch in quotes and said ->
Oh right, they did! (sort of) I thought they figured out what was causing it, but I guess just blocking everything works too...
So I guess it isn't coming from a sneaky ip, but just coming from regular nintendo game servers? So that makes it difficult to just block updates while still being able to go online, because they are sending this information through the regular going online servers? If that's the case then we truly do need a way around this, and in the mean time we basically can't go online at all. (since we have to use a dns that blocks everything (mine does that by default anyway, but it's not desirable). So yea looks like we need that patch after all.

Yep. the "patch" is just blocking all hostnames. There are ways to fix this though, once we understand what host is changing the function value in ns:vm we can easily disable it in Atmosphere, and even technically patch it in OFW now with Fusee. We just need to map out the whole chain to identify how we can do this at a client level rather than blocking everything, so even if Nintendo makes 50 000 new servers to "patch" we can just deny the requests in the sysmodule.

So yeah, everyone must still stay offline unless using HBL on 3.0.0

So is it now "patched" for say 4.1 if we use the HBL DNS (104.236.106.125) now that HeKate gives access for > 3.0 OS.?

Any update on this as of yet, or is it still recommended to stay offline for the time being? I haven't connected to a network since I purchased this thing a few months ago:P if it's safer to wait until Atmosphere is released, that's no problem at all! I see other users with no issues though.
