Hey everybody! Was wondering if I could get some advice. I purchased a 4.1 a couple months back and have NOT connected it online yet. Haven't messed with DNS settings yet either. I've only powered it on to create a profile, and it's been on my shelf ever since.

I would need to connect to my network first before I'm even able to input settings, correct? Would it be wise to leave it alone for now (at least until Atmosphere is released), or should I go in and set DNS through ReSwitched or SwitchBru? I'm aware they both do the same thing, but is one more secure in blocking than the other? I'm hesitant on even connecting to my network at all, due to this "super nag" update prompt that's been circulating. Main goal is simply block updates and any update prompt. Any help is seriously appreciated!

It seems you have not read the thread on Nintendo blocking the web applets. If you are on 4.1.0 you are waiting for Deja Vu to become public, if you go online even blocking updates you will lose that ability if Nintendo patches ns:vm. At that point there will be no difference between 4.1.0 and 5.0.2, so stay offline.

ReSwitched seems to have blocked Super Nag. Hank's wife can't nag us to death now so its okay.

...if you don't get that joke its okay.

nevermind listen to the guy above me because I suck

Really, they figured it out? If so I would like a source :)

Aha! Here it is.

probably.

Oh right, they did! (sort of) I thought they figured out what was causing it, but I guess just blocking everything works too...

So Super Nag is still there?

No, but the HBL DNS will block it.

Super Nag is probably still there, yeah.

If you read my blog, then this will seem less weird.

Super Nag is basically stalking us in some bushes, but we put a wall in front of them so they can't nag to us.

...I made a joke about super nag being some kind of whiny naggy wife superhero.

Will I still be able to shop, or play online?

Oh, pooh. Here's hoping DLC that requires FW updates can be dumped, installed, and played on older FW....

Did a quick search and the only thing I could find on the HBL DNS, is that it only supports 3.0? Is it known to work with older/newer FW's?

The HBL DNS is only for launching the Homebrew launcher on 3.0.0, you can't do anything with it on other FW, so u need to stay offline.

There's a little more going on I think than just the DNS. 3.0.0 has some other stuff going on too
