AFAIK messing up any of the vanilla vWii IOSes will break Wii U mode updates. Is it a good idea to do that on purpose to prevent auto updates in addition to DNS blocking?

Just asking, can't you reinstall the IOS? I saw people in the forum asking for help to update cause of vWii blocking the update and repairing it. Then, it's a secure form of blocking updates and avoiding autoupdate (I can't use at all my WiiU now cause wiiu downloaded 5.5.0 and I don't want to update, it's disconnected from current.

    This one made me chuckle.
It'd definitely work, but it's a pretty crazy idea to mess up your vWii intentionally.

If you did this, I doubt you'd even need DNS blocking.
It's actually a great temporary idea, assuming you know an IOS that can be changed without any repercussions.

and have a dump of it from your machine, since installing a fakesigned dump would keep it broken =P

I Totally love this idea, meaning, that i can backup all my current IOS, then mod a vanilla IOS to prevent the update, and when i want to update, just reinstall the original IOS?

would this let me use youtube without updating? thing is, i want to use youtube but without updateing, and obviously tubehax blocks youtube, so. i kinda love this idea.

It's only to make an app that (erases?) an IOS which would block the update but still allowing to enter vWII and homebrew channel for restoring it, called "vUBlock" XD that would be amazing

    1.- Make a backup of vWii IOS35
2.- Install an ios35 of Wii instead of vWii
    3.- Profit

This is an amusing thought. Even more amusing if it turns out to be easily reversible and therefore practical.

Alright, will try as soon as getting home, but, the only thing that does not compute, its the as far as i remember, intalling a Wii IOS on a vWii, was a total brick, wasn it? anyone that can confirm this?

Doesn't seem to be the case, considering that the guy in that one thread didn't get himself bricked. Plus if you check out the Do's and Don'ts of vWii Modding sticky, you'll see that the consequences of installing a normal IOS in a non-critical slot are described as being annoying and inconvenient, as opposed to being devastating to the overall functionality of your console:

On the bright side if you brick it, you've successfully blocked your Wii u from updating. :)

Can you do it? Sure. Would you want to? Don't see why.

Plenty of method to protect against updates. Unless you just flat out never use vWii.

If you're honestly going to do this, make backups (trust me I've done more IOS replacement then I care to remember). You should also do some research on what you're actually replacing. Some games require IOS to be working. Replacing something like 35 means several games will no longer work. (SM Galaxy/CoD/FIFA - off the top of my head)

Now that you can download your own IOS with the common key, I guess you can do it on your own, but eventually you'll get someone replacing IOS80, 58 or god forbid any other normal IOS and then can't boot at all. Do so at your own risk

Thanks for the advise, im not so new to the IOS related stuff, but not quite remember the important ones, im guessing, dumping the original ios with YAWMM, then installing let say d2x on ios 35, then trying to run the wii u update, then if it works, just leave it like that, if it doe sno, replace the IOS with the stock one dumped with YAWMM, therefore, IOSU supposed to work on 5.5.1

If I recall, YAWMM and various other dumpers will fakesign the IOS's that they dump, which means that they wouldn't be good for restoring the console back to vanilla. Again, you really should check out the Do's and Don'ts of vWii Modding sticky. Here's another quote from it that's relevant to what you're doing:
