So I just got my self a 3d printed jig and wanted to know what's the best way to get hombrew on my switch that's on 5.0.2? I will be using hombrew to install emulators and also to get saves and edit them

why even bother commenting here

To drive out all the "whats best" abusers, that have done no prior research.

I'll still give you the answer though - because its a hard thing for you to draw immediate value out of.

The best way of getting homebrew is to throw your jig away. Buy one of those Xecuter things (or much better, a clone (that doesnt exist yet)), and then wait for it to do homebrew on your firmware - which might not happen for a while.

Reason.

The TX dongle also comes with a jig, so you can throw yours out o the window. And also the screwdrivers and usb cables you might have bought.

A dongle for you will always (cant see into the far future) be the easiest way of you launching anything. And the fact, that TX doesnt support homebrew is only a minor setback at the moment. ;) And will most likely go a way at some point.

As you currently only have one way of launching HB anyhow (hikate) - I actually regret giving you the answer here, because you got too much value, out of literally faking a curiosity - which turned out to be just another "I want service" approach.

Next time you wont get away with it so easily. But this time around it was just too funny to have to tell you to trow away everything you bought, and wait for HB on something that doesnt support it yet. :)

Exactly. :)

It still will be the most easy way for him to run it though. Once they get HB. Sadly. :)

Clones would be better.

(I'm bridging the "normal users would not want to run PC/Android into usb cable into Switch with Jig into hikate payload longterm - a portable dongle that does the PC/Android part will always be favorable -- gap.

TX' we don't want to recommend/support.

(Dongle) Clones would be better. But they are about two months away at this point. :) )

Yes. Hes not 100% in a celebratory mood. ;)

Actually - 100% serious. :)

Alternative would be to buy the right usb cables, learn how to launch payloads from a PC or an Android device (or RPi) that supports it (yours might not), and then use your jig and the PC/Android device, to launch hikate, which could then launch HBL.

Now take two days to learn how that would work (without making a support thread), and five more days until you notice - that thats too much effort to do, everytime you coldboot your switch - or one of the homebrew apps crashes. :)

And on 5.0.2 they crash a lot. :) (Because they currently have been developed around 3.0.0 as a "baseline".)

Or wait for some dongle seller (preferably not Xecuter) to say that they support homebrew. :) (Dongle is not jig, but dongle always will come with an extra jig, so use your jig to eat breakfast cereal with it, or something.. ;) ) Dongle replaces PC/Android device, and will also be connected via usb (for a short time, every cold boot).
