Best video file player?

I use VLC for everything. Though I have MPC+CCCP in the rare event something doesn't play right. My girlfriend insists on using KMPlayer for everything but I don't like the interface too well and prefer something than can very compact it is needs to be.

Like several others have mentioned, install CCCP. It's the quickest and easiest way to get all the codecs you'll ever need and a good player installed, and they just work, no configuration needed, apart from things like file associations, and thumbnails if you want those.
I use VLC a lot as well. I like them both, can't say I prefer one or the other though.

Well there was a point in time when VLC was pretty shit tbh. Seems decent now but while we may forgive, we NEVER forget. Our hatred will live on. Well, this pretty much applies to anything really. LOL XD

I'm using MPC-HC with a bunch of codecs and stuff (I know I'm using madVR as renderer at least). For some reason CCCP refused to play certain files while they work fine with this setup. Before I was using CCCP, and before that mplayer2. Both of those are nice though.
