SLD's are 10x more expensive, and last 10x more. A regular SD card will get you several thousand writes, while SLD SD's will get you 100's of thousands. Do you need thousands? No, and you definitely don't need 100's of thousands. They are for industries that require SD cards, but don't want to change them out every year with the tons of data they will be reading/writing.I have a question why are SLD's industrial only? probably so companies make more when SD/MSD cards fail
Its the same reason you see people pushing big brooms in Wal-mart that take up the entire aisle. They don't do it because they're better than you. They do it because they probably have 100,000 square feet of floor to sweep, and your little kitchen is probably only 100 square feet. Many things comes in "industrial" variations because companies will use it more often over a longer period of time than "residential" use will.
