First off, anyone who says HG/SS is an idiot. The game just came out like a little over a week ago for God's sake. If you think it's the best Pokemon game then you obviously don't know Pokemon, you're instead just in that OMG OMG NEW GAME mode and think it's the best.

HG/SS brought back my great G/S/C experiences long ago. Anyway, I don't expect something sensible coming from a guy/girl with a word "communist" on his/her nickname.

You my friend, is the only idiot here.

Someones afraid of communism...

I don't understand why so many people are. Oh yeh, HG/SS has nothing on the origionals despite how much "new" features are added.

The original Gold and Silver are (and will always be) the best. Even current Pokemon haters can't deny that. It took everything that made RBY such huge hits and made it twice as good. 100 new Pokemon, much better graphics, the Special split, new evolution methods, baby Pokemon, etc. Not to mention including Kanto. It's quite honestly one of the best games ever made.
HGSS is GSC with more stuff. Unless the remake completely screwed up what made GSC good (which it hasn't), then your line of reasoning is ridiculous. I don't think people are in "new game mode" (as if this can be truly be called a new game), I think you're so incredibly deep in nostalgia that you can't even like an improved version of what you consider the best game of the series.

Remakes are not better than the originals 90% of the time. The DS versions of Pokemon add a lot of unnecessary flare that we don't need. You're reasoning that anything that is remade makes the remake better is a terrible philosophy for those that only think of new age gaming and don't care about how great older gaming was. It's a bad mindset that clouds judgment to whatever seems flashy instead of whatever seems good.

Definitely Platinum for me so far, but I believe that Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be better.

@Guild, I agree with your reasoning that the original G/S are most likely the best, but you have to remember there are a lot of kids here who probably started off playing the GBA Pokemon, and even an older gamer who played the DS or GBA versions first would probably not think much of the previous generations.

Except I didn't say that remakes are automatically better than the originals. I actually considered the fact that a remade version of this game could get the original wrong and argued that it didn't. But I will say this: it is extremely hard to take a ten year old game, polish it and make it worse than the original. I don't know where you get the "90% of remakes are worse than the original". That made up, opinionated statistic may work on movies, not so much on video games where they usually take the exact same script and game and build better graphics around it.

Your only argument against HGSS is that it adds "a lot of stuff that we don't need." Really? First off it's such a vague criticism, and it's not a criticism that the extra stuff is BAD, just that it's 'unnecessary'. Yes having more features and better graphics to a good game are probably "unnecessary" but that doesn't mean that they still don't make the game even better than it was. And then you list off why GSC was the greatest as if HGSS somehow didn't include everything on your list. At the core IT'S THE SAME GAME with more features, how would it not be better than the original? I guarantee that if I brought Gold and Silver to a group of kids in 2000, and then gave them HGSS to play that they'd almost unanimously pick HGSS as the better game. I know I would've, and GSC, until HGSS came out, was hands down my favorite iteration of the series. I saved up for months and bought it at a marked up price a couple of days before the official release date just to play it as soon as possible.

And with that "new age gaming vs. older gaming" statement, it seems to me that you're punishing HGSS for not being the old version of the games, because you're bitter that games in general aren't the same as they were a decade ago. Which, as I said before, is nostalgia clouding your judgement.

i think crystal was the best pokemon game for the gbc n now its deffinatly gonna be hg/ss, all the extra features, plus being able to go to both regions =D amazing, wonder why they dont do that anymore.. cept now with the g/s remakes.

At the moment, Pearl is my favorite, but I suspect Platinum is better, and I predict that HG / SS will surpass even that.

I'll say Platinum. But....Team Galactic sucks. Team Rocket FTW......or maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia.

Blue was my first ever pokemon game. It's very nostalgic thinking about it or seeing youtube vids on it. for its time, it was the probably best gbc game ever.
But i have to say platinum was the best overall. improved graphics, better pokemon mangament, better multiplayer, fun gadgets, and special events like the beauty contests and pal park were really made made the game much more superior than blue. i havent played any other pokemon game other than those two so this isnt really a fair judgement.

the latest pokemon remakes are the most hyped pokemon games over the course of the years, and I played a bit of it and can see it being great once the english version comes out. I hope it has good sales.
