Hacking Best Media Player

Just want something that will play DVDs, Xvids (including AC3). Nothing fancy.. Just want it to do the job.

P.S - I have to ask.. What the feck is WiWare ??? VC explains itself - old school Nes games, no idea what Wiware is ..

P.P.S Any emulators available that will play Secret of Mana without messing up the status screen ? Still waiting for my premod, but would like to have this ready to run... Ahhh.. the memories

Currently, the only one out is Wii MFE, and it doesn't support the DVD drive yet.

In fact, USB mass storage will probably come sooner than the drive, but that isn't a problem since most people rip DVDs these days.


WiiWare is Nintendo's stab at opening their online shop to independent developers who can't afford the $2000 for their development kit. Sadly, what it looks like it's going to be are re-releases of flash games you can play on your computer for free.

And any SNES emulator for the Wii will play SoM. Grab version 3.1, as it's the newest.

Not supported without a drivechip.... and even then, it's a lot more primitive than the MFE.

The MFE has Mplayer backing it.

apcarr makes a perfectly valid point about laser wear.

As mentioned, I'll hold off until you can read via usb. 8Gig pendrive= a lot of Xvids

Would recommend svp.co.uk for pendrives and media, for that matter. Pretty damn cheap!

I think he meant for the Wii, but that's definitely the best media player for video on Windows.
