Best birthday gift you've given to somebody?

I got my brother a PSP one year at Christmas.

I wrote an anonymous note (cut out magazine letters and all that jazz) which turned out to be like maybe... 10-15 pages (in a large envelope) and executed a perfect plan to leave her clueless. I had one class with her and I dropped off the letter as soon as the previous period let out (I seriously sprinted) and then left the classroom and made sure I walked in later than she did. It was pretty funny going around school with her to watch her ask all her friends if they know who gave it to her. It took about a week.. until she finally figured out. I don't even remember how she did. But haha, yeah, and she said it was one of the most thoughtful gifts she had ever received.

how do you determine what is better than another ?
Better as in price, or in your own interest, or in the receiver interest ?

I guess the gift I made which the receiver had the most interest in and was the most surprised is a Goban (to play Go).

Either than that, I'm not a giver nor a receiver :/
I never make gift, and I don't like to receive as I feel in debt, and I don't like that. (oh, I'll end under a bridge ! ... *private joke for otaku and weaboos?*)

I think the best gift I've given has been a baby chinchilla to my girlfriend. The little fluff ball is awesome and her reaction when i presented her the chinch was just too amazing.
