Bought a WiiKey and installed it and have been playing games and having a good time. But now I have finally noticed that the Wii beeps when loading! Resident Evil 4 does it every time it loads up a voice or enters a room, it's terrible! It's annoying, and my friend who doesn't have a modded Wii says his beeps too, so it's normal, but is there anyway to get rid of it? It's just so frustrating, maybe theres a speaker inside that I could pull out?

Any help is appreciated!

Mine beeps a lot too. I tried to set the drive speed to 3x, don't know if it helped though but I think the noise reduced a lot.

I never hear a beep, and I've been playing RE4 alot, so we know it's not the game. How far are you guys from your Wiis?

Like three feet.
My Dreamcast makes the same exact beep actually

My room is small though so I have to be close...

I'm usually about 6-8 feet from mine (I live in the bonus room in the summer, It's GIANT). I'll try playing RE4 sitting right next to my Wii.

I just played for about 10 minutes. And when going between areas (green text doors) I did hear a beep, but I had to but I had to put my head about 3-4 inches from the right side of my Wii. I guess the loudness varies from drive to drive.

EDIT: I'm not using a modchip.

I see. Well, at least I know the beep is happening to everyone. Mines pretty loud though, I think I may move my Wii a little farther away to try and dampen the noise. Thanks for the help

When I play re4, when I change weapons and go back to gameplay, it doesn't beep, the drive just spins up annoyingly

-edit I have my wiikey on default eeprom mode, should I change any of the settings? (all I want to play is ntsc games)

I was JUST about to post this question!

I don't have a modded Wii, and I have legit games, got it the batch before Christmas at a Target.

I heard this same beep in RE4 when loading doors specifically yesterday. But, I FIRST heard it in DBZ:BT2, it is very prominent at the loading screen of a fight.

I honestly don't think it is coming from the Wii, but from the TV itself, and it doesn't sound like a beep, Ok, maybe it does, but i dont know how to describe it is like a "dun duh" Like something appearing on a radar IDK

But the moral of the story is, don't worry about it, its not the modchip or game, it is normal for some reason...

I find the wii is the most silent quietest disc-based console ever released, i mean i was round my friends house at the weekend and the fan noise coming from his 360 was terrible! My wii is practically silent, only time i hear it is when it loads the game from the wii menu! After that, i dont hear it in the game. Maybe because i sit far enough back. but even so, ive never noticed much noise coming from it.
