Hacking Been out of the site for a few month, what exactly is CIA?

I been off the site for a while, I come back and check the other day i see a ot of discussion of cia and dlc useable. Can someone give me the summary? I have the gateway if it change anything

CIAs are installable ROMs and DLC packs, similar to WADs on the Wii.

Yep, I've installed update data as .cia with no issues. Doesn't even have to be the same region either as long as you're in Gateway Mode.

ok i try to install the BBM. Got stuck ion this step

Copy/paste BigBlueMenu.3ds to the root of your Micro-SD card (the one inside GW card). Copy/paste BigBlueMenu.cia to the root of your SD card (the one inside the 3DS) as well.

I ddi that, click the BBM on gateway mode, it doesn;t open

IF you have a retail cart or rom, isn't it enough to download the update through the eshop?

Can't do that if the ROM is from another region. Otherwise, yes. I've done both.
