Are you going to be using this machine for hacking or legit online?

Keep it on 7.55 for hacking, you can reinstall 7.55 sys or rec pup (rec will wipe console)

Update to 8.03 manually via usb. Download the sys or rec pup for 8.03 and update it to 8.03. Should be able to get online still with 8.03 as 8.50 is too new/not compulsary

then you'll probably have to update. is that the cmos battery error? you can look up the error on psdevwiki ps4 error codes. nm, I just looked it up. it says "system error. your system likely needs to be serviced." I don't know if that's the cmos battery error though or if there's one specific to it. you have to sign in in order to sync the rtc as you probably know, so there's probably no alternative. the payload to fix it without signing on only seems to work on 5.05.

Yeah the method for kernel clock was changed in 6.72+.

I don’t get why there would be a message for 8.50 when there is no news about 8.50 anywhere other than the betas.

I’ve had a scout around and didn’t find anyone else saying 8.50 is out now... in JP regions anyway.

yeah, I think @Leeful said it screwed up his system when he used it on 6.72. I'm curious how he got games to run if the rtc is messed up.
I think his system time is now borked. But games still work.

I know there are people looking into this. It seems it stems from the public revert method... Sony are playing cat and mouse.

the cmos uses a battery commonly found in watches, so it's made to last for many years. it's lithium I believe like the old battery that was in the sega saturn iirc. I think most consoles since then have had a battery like that. it should last 10-15 years usually, which ps3 consoles are coming up to with launch systems. I guess it's possible for a ps4's to fail. I think sometimes they get corrosion, so they fail prematurely.

no, the kernel clock payload doesn't seem to work above 5.05, so most people no longer include it above that. I've heard that al azif has dropped it from her host in fact for that reason.

Yeah, Its semi-borked since running the kernel clock payload on 672. It's not as bad as the people with bad cmos batteries but the RTC is definatly messed up now with no way to fix it at the moment.

I can still exploit and run pkgs normally but I cant use todex anymore. If I do I get a blue screen error on any game I try and run.
Also using GoldHen or changing the TargetID to 0x80 does not fix my blank trophy issue anymore like it used to.:(
