Bad gaming habits

What are some of your bad habits when it comes to games? I tend to mash buttons in combat based games. Games with slower combat no, but a lot of faster paced combat. If I need to do a combo I'm paying attention to the animations, not my button presses.

Sometimes after playing Dynasty Warriors (or one of the spin-offs, or similar games I guess) when I pick up Monster Hunter I end up wasting items thinking Y is the normal attack button.

pressing the start button on the producer's logo, even I know it doesn't help.
Oh, and connecting to any kind of remote debugger in the case I need to mess with something every time

At age 35? Buying more games in every Steam sale and Humble Bundle....and then never ever playing them.

Mine is pretty much the exact opposite of this; in big open world games I always go with the story first and then do everything else afterwords.

Skyrim, for example, I beat at level 11 with like...Dwarven gear ._.

But that's a good habit, you can't play and wank at the same time. Unless you have someone else to do the second for you .




Take waaay to much time exploring the game. In most RPGs I play the in-game clock counts +100 hours (my P3P clock has like 120 hours, same for Omega Quintet).

Same here (and you beat me to it posting this). It's amazing how hard it is to let go of this one. Or even how many platformers cater to this behavior.

Constantly looking online to see how close i am to finishing a game. It's a weird feeling where I enjoy the game but I enjoy beating it more than I do playing it.

in zelda games there is always a part that goes like this:
get stuck, look for a tutorial to pass that part.. or find secret
"hooo, i had to do that??"
get angry at myself because i couldn't figure it out something so simple and obvious

or:
accidentally read how to get a secret.. get bored and have a feeling that i shouldn't keep continue playing
