An update comes out?
There is a simple solution.
DON'T UPDATE.

3.3 was made to block the TP hack, 3.4 does something, but why would you update to them if there are no games that require it yet or any new features that are worth it?

There's just one simple reason: Some people can't resist shiny buttons.

You mean the NEW update from yesterday which is just a shop channel update?

If someone can extract the Wii Shop Channel the update through a WAD people can keep 3.2 & have no problems hopefully someone will leak it out eventually it will take time though let's hope someone will take care of this annoying issue. I can't accsess the shop channel now because it want's me to update and I was planning on buying something soon anyway crap!

Guys, this thread is about the Backup Loader, not the Update. The update has it's own thread. Stay on topic in here, unless the question pertains to the loader.

So.. good morning to all^^
Pretty much happened that night... Speaking about an update which might cos HB to stop working on some consoles...
I'm wondering if all the patched isos (related to the 3.4 or maybe still 3.3 update) do effect the development of the 0.3 loader from waninkoko and WiiGator.

The modified IOSs shouldn't affect the loader overly much. They only make changes to IOS that they know will not affect the compatibility of games (otherwise old games would stop working). The launcher itself uses a modified IOS and then patches the games on the fly to use the custom IOS. The compatibility problems testers are seeing in v0.3 are caused by the fact that the loader is based on IOS 36, and anything that uses IOS 21 or lower is expecting significantly different IOS code. The changes that Nintendo released to IOS wont affect the loader because the loader uses its own IOS. The only potential problem would be if Nintendo released future games that required certain parts of the new IOSs to work that weren't compatible with the backup loader. Like I said though, this is highly unlikely since any changes to IOS must be backwards compatible, or all current Wii games would stop functioning (which would be far worse for Nintendo than a few people sharing games).

this is not a problem, the program could:
1/ check what IOS version the game is requiring
2/ patch it and then launch it

no, the problem is that with the last update, you can not INSTALL unauthorized IOS, this include patching existing ones (reinstallation) and custom ones (fresh installation)

The upcomming backup loader will obviously NEEDS a new custom IOS to be installed, which means that people who update are screwed

oh, and btw, IOS are not retrocompatible because ALL VERSIONS live on your wii, they don't need to be retrocompatible, the System Menu just load the appropriate one regarding to the game you run

Don't update before BootMii is released. If it holds up to its promises big N can't do anything to block it.

I'm having issues when patching Sam & Max Season One, the program saids that the result will be an 1.6 GB ISO, I burned it and the game actually boots, but when I select any chapter the wii reboots itself >o

good day everyone,
have anyone of you guys try "Disaster - Day of Crisis",
any idea if its going to be compatible with v0.3 loader ?

Well Disaster worked really damn well with v0.1, so I'd assume it'd work even better with v0.3.

thanks thu

I know this is a tad off subject but does anyone have a link that provides all 100% saved games? That would speed up the .3 testing tremendously to see if the game you are testing can run in all its levels, etc. that way whatever you are testing doesn't effect how much you don't like playing the game...because I know there will be plenty of people trying a backup and then once they see if it plays the 1st session they will swear it works not knowing that the game doesn't work 100% when the gameplay gets more progressed...

Just a suggestion ... Because I am really doing this for my kid... (and my wallet) so it doesn't matter if I see the spoilers to come... My kid is the real Wii fan... I am just interested in the whole concept of everything working and helping Wiigator get this done so he can take a long over due vacation...

I would have thought so.
If it was an old game, then perhaps it wouldnt work at all, but its new, so I think it would either work better or the same. (probably slightly quicker)
