I have the PAL version of Starwars TFU, forced NTSC for colour, long load times, but plays perfectly fine, even the cinematics don't skip ^^

About letting the screen idle... I rather not, I've waited long enough for it to load :]
lol, well not idle that long. I just meant at the main screen when it tells you to press A and B together, let it sit for like 10 seconds and it'll start to play what I'll assume is a demo video of the game. This video really doesn't matter at all since everything else plays perfectly fine but I just wanted to point out that it isn't COMPLETELY flawless since that video froze my wii.

So with this Force NTSC option, does that mean I can go and download PAL versions of games if I can't find the NTSC version and it'll play it fine on my NTSC Wii?

are they used in addition with the backup loader or do they have no relation to each other?

They don't have any connection.
SD-Boot boots, as the name says, ISOs/GCM Files from
a SD Gecko(or similar device). The Wii backup loader runs
burned games.

What media do the backups need to be burned to? Is DVD-R or DVD+R OK? I've burned a copy of PAL Wario Land, but I just get a DVD Identify Error each time.

If you use DVD-R you need to do nothing when burning. If you burn to DVD+R, you need to set the BOOKTYPE of the DVD+R to DVD-ROM for it to work on the Wii.

No you don't, I am using DVD+Rs and they all work without touching the booktype. I had to gamble since my DVD burner cant change the book type : /

if you are using ImgBurn, it tries to auto-set the booktype,
put it in your drive and read the info out of ImgBurn
and see if it is DVD-ROM

because if this is true for you, you are about the only one who doesn't have to booktype + media.
if you are positive it is still not booktyped and it is working,
please post all info regarding media manufacturer, speed rated, etc.
because people will want to buy such media.

Ill repeat, sometimes you dont have to touch booktype in ImgBurn, it attempts to just do it with + media,
that doesnt mean it always works without setting it manually, but it automatically does it on my own pc.

I have backed up my copy of mario super sluggers to a DVD, patched it using waninkoko's tool. I then burned it onto a Philips DVD-R at the recommended speed.

I already had the homebrew channel installed, so I uninstalled DVDx, then installed the custom IOS v5. I then installed DVDx again using advanced options and choosing IOS249.

The backup fails to load on the backup loader every time apart from once. All these times I got the identify failed error, apart from the one time it seemed to work, where it actually got the right game ID, but failed to boot, giving me the green screen instead. I tried again after enabling the force NTSC option (it is a US copy), but every time since then hasn't worked either.

I am using a PAL wii.

Also, another problem I am having is using the wiigator extractpartition tool. Every time I try to run it, I get an error saying: cannot open root-key: No such file or directory. I compiled it from source, but I do not have this root-key file (if it is in fact a file).

I just installed wiigator today. I downloaded a NTSC sluggers ISO. Patched it, burned it, popped it in my NTSC Wii and it worked perfectly aside from the intro video stuttering (as mentioned in the compatibility list meaning I'm not the only one).

Yes. Didn't work at all for me.

Some extra information that might help: the mplayer with dvd support gotten off the homebrew browser does play DVDs when dvdx is installed with default options, but not when ISO249 is chosen.

are you using cIOS_rev5 from the backup-loader? because it works absolutely fine for me with mplayerDVD. It seems to take about 10 seconds longer to boot a DVD, then everything is identical.

wow after playing No more heroes when riding the bike the game freezes so far i only notice when riding the bike

I've had the same problem on the NTSC version. Also, pressing the C button to change views freezes the game. I haven't tried running around the whole city yet. Anyone else have these problems?

yo when i try to run a Patched backup with this backup launcher it say NO VID IDENITY. wat does that mean

I tried "extractpartition" now. For every iso I get this error message: "cannot open root-key: No such file or directory". I have no clue what to do with it.
