Hacking Avoid Ordering From ModChipsDirect (For Now)

I ordered from a different place about the same time you did. Haven't seen mine yet, little concerned, but not tripping on it yet.

The reason why I am not concerned because until Gateway releases Omega 2, I can't use it. So if it takes me an extra week to get it, so?
 
I was going to order from them but I did a little research. You are not the only one who started a whole thread about how bad Modchipsdirect services are. I searched about them a little before spending my money on them and found out a lot of unhappy customers who bought from them. It pays to do a little bit of research.

This guy!! Dude, they can't control the weather. Get over it. I dealt with idiots like this when hurricane Sandy hit NYC. A lot of the products my store carries are from there and all our orders got frozen. I applaud modchip direct. Not only did they get me my gateway in 2 days but they had the testicular fortitude to tell this guys what's up. Bravo! Jink get a life and remember the whole world doesn't cater to you. People like you should be forced to work retail for a few years so you can get a taste of what dealing with a giant douche is like. The blame is on you Jink. Not MCD for failing to make a bargain with Mother Nature to abate a blizzard just so you don't have to wait. You know when I was young we had to get off our asses to go rent a dvd or get a cd. The fact you complained makes you a dick. Spoiled brat.

Trying to put things in a different perspective so you can be thankful for all the conveniences. If you can't understand this then please don't order from them again. They will be better off

For what it's worth, ModChipsDirect is a really good seller in my experience. I ordered from them, and got my card promptly in 4 days with no issues. Absolutely no problems with them. It's really great to have a seller in the US now, as ordering my DSTwo from China years ago was a hassle.

After reading your post, OP, those were very extenuating circumstances, and I wouldn't expect a simple reseller to have a set-in-stone protocol for such a thing. Your words came off as very combative, offensive, and completely selfish. To be frank, I ordered from MCD in spite of you for being so callous. Thanks, by the way - I hadn't heard of them before your post came along, and I couldn't have asked for better service.

I find it likely that you gave them a few more customers (like myself) rather than destroy some of their income like you obviously intended to.

Shame on you.
 
Same people beings dicks are the ones probably complaining about an expected date on a firmware update, be patient. FYI should've gotten when it was onsale. way cheaper.

Honestly I would have just offered a refund for the order, a quick apology and be done with it.

The OP lives in NYC, but still requires 1 day shipping...............yes, I see it now. You are a complete dick. If you wanted to cancel the order than you should've done so instead of leaving it up to them. Get a better handle on the situation and stop using Hurricane Sandy to justify your emotional response.
 
After seeing this thread, I went out and purchased a Gateway from MCD, simply to spite the seemingly spoiled-rotten OP.

I found their spin on the discourse oddly refreshing. While I can't say I would have done the same, I appreciate the way they call them as they see them.
 
I agree with OP, but a lot of gateway retailers are super slow these days. i ordered from modchipcentral on sunday and it still hasn't shipped
 
<sigh> I've ordered twice from MCD and both times They shipped the next day or on Monday if I ordered during the weekend. And both times my tracking on USPS looked like this:

I posted this in another thread, and I'm sorry if others have seen it before. Ordered that during Thanksgiving weekend (Sunday actually) and unless MCD can get shit from Asia to their shipping depot in Buffalo in less than 24 hours so that they can fake being in the US (this is not plausible... AT ALL... REALLY!!!)... They most certainly have stock in Buffalo, NY.

OP: I'm not saying they didn't fuck up w/ your order. They should have alerted you about the problems. But I think your assumptions and then your behavior based on them were out of line. Then you get on the 'temp and spill your assumptions as fact and post dialog, that frankly I think you should be embarrassed about and not be advertising, assuming again that the rest of us would accept your "evidence" as binding.

My experience w/ them has been good, yours has been bad... I get that. Your claims that they do not ship out of Buffalo are clearly bullshit. If you doubt my tracking snap shot, then track this on USPS: 420973029400111899561012540352 , it will produce the same results. Go ahead and complain about them and your experience, but please stop playing "detective" and posting your "facts".
 
I've worked in retail as an auditor, buyer, merchant, logistics specialist, CMS manager, and now Director of Merchandising for a large commerce platform.

It's for this very reason you should have been a bit more "decent?" to them. If you had not come off as such a dick in the very first message to them, then the rest of the conversation might have been justified. I have a habit of blowing shit out of proportion and being a "dick" too. Usually though, only after being pushed to that point and usually only in response to someone being a "dick" first.

Just ordered a GW from ModchipsDirect thanks to OP's encouraging words :)

No really I had a good experience with them before (unlike WCRepairs... they canceled my order without even giving my money back...) so we'll see how it goes this time around.

I guess the massive, bright red text isn't big enough or bright enough for you.

They're backordered, which is why it hasn't shipped yet.
 
All I know is I purchased mine from McDonalds after this snow storm and it's already being shipped to my house.
McDonald's sells flash carts now! O.o the world of flashcarts has truly changed! :-p sarcasm aside i agree with op's view that the site should have listed delays but not in the way he went about it.
Edit: not sarcasm i guess..... jovial joking is more like it.
