?

Are you going to play the game at native resolution?

  1. Yes, I'll jump to the native resolution.

    87.5%
  2. No, I'll stick with the original resolution.

    12.5%

Thanks to @Kabuto_Kun, I applied his easy method for changing resolution methods via the eboot.bin edit, which bumped the resolution from 720x408 to 960x544 without any graphical errors.

    Screenshots comparisons [Before/After/etc.]:
Full album download (12 pairs of images)
    Warning: Spoilers inside!
Framerate Test at 544p with oclockvita maxed out:

In general the performance is around 10% worse than having the game at the original resolution with oclockvita, but isn't as bad as playing the game at 408p without oclockvita.
408p framerate test with and without oclockvita:
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

    Steps to editing the eboot:

    1) Open the game's eboot.bin in a Hex Editor (HxD, PSPad)
    2) Search for the hex value "D002000098010000"
    3) Replace the value with "C003000020020000"

    Bingo.
Good find! I wonder what engine the game uses. Might help identify more games that can be edited with a dword swap.
    Cheers.

It looks like the other Gameloft Game, Dungeon Hunter Alliance, renders it's in-game UI at a native resolution, so I don't know what it's actual resolution could be. None of the common resolutions work either

There are a lot of games that do that. World of Final Fantasy renders UI at 544p too. While anything else being potato-quality(supposedly 408p, 30fps cap, no DoF, no HDR, no AA).

Wow I've never played Asphalt but I might have to pick it up now just for this. One thing that's annoyed me no end about the Vita is it has that gorgeous hi-res screen and half the 3D games designed for the console look like crap because they run at some low resolution...

    I totally agree on that.
It sort of feels like being scammed in a way with 3d titles. I have several games that are multiplat. None of those look remotely close to pc/ps3 counterparts.
Except 2d games. I think all of 2d titles use q-HD 544p resolution which is nice in a way but I didn't get vita to play 2d games. :yay3ds: does it well enough.

But the good news is, little bit of very basic REing and we can make all games run at native res. At least test them with oclockvita and see if they are playable at all with stock/oc clockrate.
Everyone can give it a go https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/637np7/problematic_psp_game_fixes_force_unleashed/

Well I've just given this a go with Asphalt and the game is awful but the hack works brilliantly, huge difference..

Yep it sucks - games like Killzone Mercenary really show what the Vita is capable of and it's a shame more 3d Vita titles were not native resolution.

I'm going to give that a shot on WRC4 and see how it goes.

looks like a clone of the "burnout" series, btw, the best version was burnout 2. Gravity Rush 2 was another game, forget which thread, that someone bumped up the resolution, at the cost of some graphical errors.

speaking of which, maybe think about lowering the resolution, example:

    1. Salt and Sanctuary on PS4, looks ugly because it is too far zoomed out in game to show the detail
    2. Salt and Sanctuary on VITA, look much better because it is zoomed in to show more detail, but the game is choppy since it has some performance issues

Clearly the lower resolution versions are more significant then the higher resolution versions. (Cross platforms games on ps4 and vita, all result in the vita having superior companion versions)

(then when you view all those ugly pixelated ps4 games that are designed that way, like "Solar Pier", its clearly an admission of guilt that ps4 owners are always disenfranchised when same vita version are offered ............ so there's been a shift in developers willingness to develop on both platforms, since the ps4 version is always canned by lack of sales versus the vita version)

Would it be possible to do this for P4G?

As far as I know the UI is native res while the 3d is sub. The game looks great as it is, but it could end up looking even better.

I have tried looking at the eboot.bin, but honestly, I have no clue what am doing.

I thought Asphalt is already in native resolution since I have the game when it first launched and it looks very clean and crisp on screen. Well that's great.

I hope any game that uses dynamic resolution like Ninja Gaiden Sigma + and DOA5+ will have its own hack to have constant native resolution on gameplay. Also, Uncharted GA deserves a native resolution though.

I've tried going through a few eboots with the "easy" method described in the link with no luck except on the Asphalt one. Certainly doesn't mean there aren't any more that'll work but I can't find any. It's tricky if you don't know the resolution the game is running at but possible to make some deductions.

I've been planning on having a go with the other method but haven't had the time yet. Obviously I will share any findings if I come up with anything!

I can't find many sub-native games to fix through the easy method either. Games like Unit 13 and Hotshots Golf don't have their resolutions stores this way and the LEGO series games that use a newer engine (LEGO Movie, Marvel Avengers, Ninjago: SoR) tie their"touch interface" to the resolution, so an increase to native resolution will either mess that up while making the whole game native or will hard crash the Vita, while the older ones (Hobbit, Batman 2) has it all rendered at 368p and don't seem to be affected by the edit. I can't

Regarding to your post @ https://gbatemp.net/threads/mortal-kombat-mods.475729/#post-7421726

Is there still a possibility to edit resolution 960x544 in Mortal Kombat 9 ?

Thank you so much in advance~
